Prepared by Sheila Burke, Joana Feit & Bissa Zamboldi-Moore

Language Learners in PE

• How does it feel when you don’t speak the language of instruction?

• What does it take for you to be able to participate in the class activities?

• What steps help you to participate and learn the language of instruction?

Practice integrating language & content goals to write sentence frames

Step 1: Find a partner.

Step 2: Listen to the overview of planning – any questions?

Step 3: Work with your partner to complete “You Try It” #s 1-4.

Step 4: Use “Signal Words and Language Functions Chart” to help you.

Step 5: Ask Sheila, Bissa or Joana for help if you need it.

Step 6: Share an idea with your colleagues.
