Emery C.I. is a school which fosters lifelong learning. We provideinnovative and relevant programs in a safe and nurturingenvironment. CyberScience/RoboticsOur specialized CyberScience program is funded in part by ourcommunity partners. This program offers students enrichedactivities in science, mathematics, technology and computerstudies.Emery is part of the "For Inspiration and Recognition of Scienceand Techology" (FIRST) program. We began with the FIRSTRobotics competion in 2003.

Transportation SHSMSHSM or Specialist High Skills Major in TransportationTechnology, prepares students, whether they are heading toUniversity, College, Apprenticeship or the workforce, to get a headstart in a career in the transportation industry.   We have two fullyequipped Auto Shops.

LeadershipAs part of our overall goal to engage students, Emery has a numberof student leadership groups. This includes a recently developedcourse which provides skills and strategies for conflict resolutionand accountability. Students learn skills for responsible citizenship.

Co-CurricularMe To We/Youth Speak - Students have the opportunity to discusssocial issues, e.g. 30 Hour Famine.Girls Group - Provides our young ladies the opportunity to exploretheir relationships with one another and the rest of the world.Exercise To Success - A student-teach-student model allows ourstudents to lead exercise and group discussion at elementaryschools.

Student Life - Where You Belong

School spirit is the core of student life at Emery. Ourstudents show their school spirit through participation andinvolvement in the many co-curricular activities that areoffered at Emery. Students can get involved by participatingin Spirit Week, community food drives, school dances, fundraisers, Terry Fox Run, Cultural Diversity Week, joining oneof many co-curricular clubs or councils that Emery has tooffer. Students have the chance to have their voice heardand to make a positive change by bringing any concerns orideas they may have to Student Council, a student and staffelected representative or students can tap into our severalleadership groups at Emery. Students proudly wear theschool colours, red, black and white, as they make their fouryears at Emery the most memorable.

STUDENT SUCCESS - At Emery Collegiate, we arecommitted to providing an environment for students to growand thrive. In order to support students, we have a variety ofprograms available inside school and in the community.ACADEMICS - Our Cyber Science, SHSM in transportationtechnologies, Robotics, coop/stayconnected, and robustArts programs ensure that we challenge and meet thepathway needs of our students. Our students have won tophonours and several prestigious Science, Mathematics andRobotics competitions.SPORTS - Under the leadership of one of the foremostyouth sports leaders in Canada, Bob Maydo,our coaches provide an enviable athletics program thatserves the sporting and leadership needs of all students;from top/national athletes to novice players who are eitherbeginning to learn the sports or just having fun.STUDENT LEADERSHIP -  Our school leaders are enagedin reengagement activities, working with elementarystudents, and running many leadership activites at Emery.

Parent and Community Engagement

Emery deeply values Parental & Community Involvement. Some ofour partnerships include: York University, and Seneca College, BlackCreek Community Health Centre,Youth Clinical Services, HumberRiver Regional Hospital and North York Women's Shelter. We alsowork in partnership with the Griffin Centre, Jane/Finch Communityand Family Centre, YMCA of Greater Toronto Employment andCommunity Services, and PEACH (Promoting Economic Action andCommunity Health). Emery's School Council is very active andcontinues to welcome parents and guardians to monthly meetings.

Imagine a TDSB where all schools share a common core set of characteristics. They arecommunity-driven and focused on teaching and learning. Students and parents have a wide variety ofopportunities and there are enough students in every school to increase program choices. Imagine there is a clear focus on achieving student success and every student is engaged, has a voice,access to a caring adult and the opportunity to develop their full potential. Here at the TDSB our focus is on student achievement, parent and community engagement and financialstability.
