Setting the scene: What is IATI?

• A common way of publishing data on aid flows

• Data can be analysed, interpreted or visualised

• Benefits:

• Recipient governments have better information about incoming flows, making it easier to identify 'donor darlings' and 'aid orphans', both now and in the future

• Donors and NGOs can see what other donors and NGOs are funding and working on collaboration, effectiveness, evidence-based decision-making

• Donor country taxpayers know how their aid is being spent

• Developing country citizens, NGOs and communities have better information with which to hold their own governments and international donors and NGOs to account
