WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A STUDENT A WANTS TO TRANSFER TO CSU?

First steps by student The transfer student contacts the CSU Office of

Admissions: 937.376.6348 / Toll Free: 800.388.2781 The transfer student completes an application for

admission. The transfer student mails his/her academic

transcript(s) from each transfer school to: Central State University Attn: Office of Admissions P.O. Box 1004 Wilberforce, OH 45384

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A STUDENT A WANTS TO TRANSFER TO CSU?

When CSU receives the transcript(s):•The Office of Admissions assigns a school code to each transcript. •The Office of Admissions sends the coded academic transcripts to the Office of the Registrar for Banner input by the Transcript Coordinator. • After inputting the transcript data, the Transcript Coordinator sends back the transcripts to the Office of Admissions for filing. •Transfer students may contact the Office of the Registrar for a copy of their accepted transfer courses.

ADVISORS AND THE TRANSFER STUDENT

Academic Advisors can view accepted courses on Banner (SHATERM) or MyCSU.

Advisors create a folder for each of their advisees. The check sheet is the primarily tool for determining the

student’s progress toward degree completion.

ADVISORS AND THE TRANSFER STUDENT To determine which checksheet is needed, advisors should check

SZADARQ in Banner for the student’s catalog year (CATYR). Use the checksheet in effect during the student’s catalog year in

Banner. For example, if the student’s catalog year is Fall 2013, the appropriate checksheet is the one in effect Fall 2013, not the most current.

Students have a total of eight calendar years in which to complete the degree requirements for graduation. Students who take longer than eight years from the date of initial enrollment to graduate will be subject to degree requirements of the current catalog.

Checksheets are available from the student’s major department .

DEGREE AUDIT REPORTING SYSTEM (DARS)

Degree Audit Reporting Systems a.k.a DARS is available to advisors who have DARS training through the Registrar’s office.

Permission Rights must be granted to have access to this Banner form. To request access, contact Tara Napper at the Office of the Registrar.

DARS assists the Academic Advisor and Student by creating a roadmap towards degree completion. Note: A degree audit does not replace the academic checksheet.

DARS shows how courses taken at Central State University will apply towards the student’s academic program. The student’s transfer courses will be listed; however, they will not be applied to the student’s requirements.

At this time, CSU relies on Academic Advisors and Departments Chairs to check transfer course equivalencies.

TRANSFER GUARANTEE REPORTING SYSTEM [1]

The Transfer Guarantee Reporting Systems is a resource to help students, parents, admissions officers, counselors, academic advisors, registrars, and other personnel with the transfer of credits by identifying statewide guarantees for the Ohio Transfer Module (OTM) and Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG) initiatives.

To access this website go to: https://www.ohiohighered.org/transfer/reportingsystem
