So, why an eco lodge

• How do you think they produce the majority of their electricity?

• Only the kitchen uses electricity

• A back up diesel generator is available

• Most of the lighting is by candle

• With an average climate of between 25 and 27deg no energy is used for heating [diurnal range 10deg]

• Most of the activities use little energy – showers are solar heated

• Soap and Shampoo is biodegradable, the water treated in tanks before being returned to ground

• Access to the lodge is by raft with kit in dry bags.

• Food is kept cold in a cool box on a raft on the river
