EASY RIB MITTS
Skill Level: Beginner
100g TOFT ARAN yarn
4.5mm needles
Tension: 18 sts and 24 rows to 10cm in stocking
stitch using 4.5mm needles after washing and
blocking.
Cast on 32 sts
Row 1 P1 *K2, P2, rep from * to last st, P1.
Row 2 K1 * P2, K2, rep from * to last st, K1.
Rows 3-14 Rep Rows 1-2
SHAPE THUMB
FINISHING
Join seam and weave in ends.
Hand-wash, dry flat and block if necessary.
ST ST stocking stitch, working straight: K one row, P
the next, in the round: K every round
Row 15 rib 14 sts, inc1, K2, inc1 rib to end of row.
Row 16-18 Work K sts as knit and P sts as purl.
Rep Rows 15-18 twice inc 1 st at each side of thumb
gusset, work extra sts in ST ST (38sts)
THUMB
Work 24sts in rib, turn, cast on 1 st, P10, cast on 1
st (12sts), turn.
Work 6 rows in ST ST on 12sts only.
Cast off.
Re-join yarn and work in rib across all sts, pick up 2
cast on sts at thumb and work into K2, P2 rib.
Rib 15 rows
Cast off rib-wise.
