Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
April 1, 2018
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
— Psalm 118:17
Welcome We welcome all who have joined with family and friends to celebrate this beautiful season with us. May your time together be pleasant and memorable. We also welcome all who come as visitors and guests for this celebration of the Lord’s birth. Your presence enlivens our celebration and our community as we praise and thank our generous God. Father Chris Tozzi, Father Nicholas Dempsey, Father Patrick Kiernan, Deacon John Fanelle and the entire parish ministry staff wishes you the Lord’s light and life today, and throughout the days of the year to come. An Invitation
If you are visiting our church today, know that we are honored by your presence. If you are not already an active member of this community, consider sharing in what we have to offer. Our parish serves the needs of the
community in many different ways. We offer preparation for sacraments, education for children and adults, social activities, assistance to those in difficulty and comfort to the sick and those who mourn a loss. If we can be of service to you, do not hesitate to call on us.

PROCLAIM THE RISEN CHRIST On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!” In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glorious Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness accounts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives?

“Some of the second grade Faith Forma on students had their feet washed by their catechist, Ms. Melissa Brown, teaching them the importance of being a servant the same way Jesus was a servant.” This week, the sixth grade classes will present the Sta ons of the Cross in shadow form, and all the Faith Forma on students will pray them together in Dempsey Social Center.
Baptism Baptisms are held on the 4th Sunday of each month after the 11:00am Mass. Baptism is a communal Sacrament and not private. Deacon John Fanelle performs all of the baptisms. Parents are required to be formally registered as parishioners, and be participating members of our community for three months. Attending Mass does not make you registered– you must have filled out a registration form! If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month. Godparents are encouraged to attend the baptismal class, either at our parish or their own parish. For more information, or to schedule a Baptism and/or register for the Baptismal Class, please visit https://sttheresecarmel.org/baptism/. Marriage
All couples wishing to be married at St. Thérèse of Carmel must be formally registered, active and participating members of our parish community for one year before setting a date. Couples are asked to allow six to nine months to complete the marriage preparation program. Please call the parish office (858) 481-3232 or email psalinas@stocsd.org to make arrangements.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Adults who seek initiation into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist will want to look into this class. RCIA is also for baptized adults through Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist. Catholic or non-Catholic, who seek full Initiation into the Catholic Church. Please contact Karen Klause (858) 354-7441.
