Welcome to the latest issue of my own wedding magazine and I must confess that this has been the hardest
issue to put together so far. With losing my father only last month it certainly put things into perspective. At least my
father had the honour of walking me down the aisle - twice!
In this issue you’ll find the regular features of the Wedding Fayres notice board and the Talking Point discussion
page, where this time I approach the topic of Wedding Fayres themselves. I would love to hear your views on the
subject too, so get in touch, whether you are a bride/groom-to-be or a wedding supplier.
Well here’s hoping that the weather stays kind to those of your getting married in the next few months. There
is a Mood Baord on Page 10 in this issue with some ideas for the unpredictable weather we have here too. If you have
your own suggestions, write to me or comment on my Facebook page. I may just use your advice in the next issue.
Until winter…….

Venue Review - Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa
Location: Rushton, near Kettering, Northamptonshire, NN14 1RR
www.rushtonhall.com
www.facebook.com/RushtonHall
https://twitter.com/RushtonHallH
Set on the edge of the quiet village of Rushton in Northamptonshire,
you could feel like you are miles away from anywhere when you visit the
Grade I Listing Building of Rushton Hall.
Now a 4 star hotel and spa, Rushton Hall has everything you could
wish for when looking for a wedding venue. The staff are very efficient and
nothing is too much trouble, even down to the small details. They even have their own Master of Ceremonies available
to make sure your reception runs smoothly and 46 bedrooms to accommodate you and most of your guests.
However, the exclusive hire of Rushton Hall does come at a price, with their website stating that for a Friday or
Saturday wedding a fee of £18,000 is applicable. This includes the use of the civil ceremony room, the use of the Great
Hall or Oak Panelled Dining Room or Pavilion, allowing for up to 160 guests and also use of all the bedrooms on a bed
and breakfast basis. The Spa is not included exclusively. You can still use the hall for your wedding without having it
exclusively for you and your guests, but they state you must also book at least 5 other bedrooms on the day (not
including the room that will be included in your wedding package). Further details can be found on the website.
Still do not overlook this venue because of what it costs,
you are paying for a piece of historic beauty and the services
that come with a 4-star rated hotel, with it’s professional and
uniformed staff to whom nothing is too much trouble,
however big or small the request. They will strive to make your
wedding day unique and personal to you.
The stunning grounds also provide so many options for
your wedding photographs, from the views in front of the hall
to the exceptional courtyard, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
Why not go and view Rushton Hall for yourselves and treat
yourself to an Afternoon Tea or Sunday Lunch while you are
there - the menus are fantastic and you can also arrange to taste
your wedding menu beforehand if you wish.
Could Rushton Hall actually be the perfect wedding venue
of your dreams?

So you are planning your wedding and you have probably visited at least one wedding fair, but are they worth
your time and do you get anything useful from them?
A smaller, local wedding fair may be more useful to you, as you meet the suppliers that are available in your area,
but these types of wedding fairs are usually small and normally only have one or two of each type of supplier, so you
don’t actually see much variety. If you only visit local wedding fairs then you might tend to find that the same suppliers
will do most of these fairs and you start to wonder if there are actually any other businesses out there. The problem
can sometimes be that the organisers of the fairs either charge too much to exhibit for the smaller individuals to display
at, or it will be the same group of suppliers that all know each other that get invited to attend and exhibit. Sometimes
this can be a good thing, as if you use one supplier, for you cakes for example, they then may be able to personally
recommend other business that can supply your stationery or table decorations, but on the other hand you may feel
that this limits your choices.
The regional and national wedding fairs are to a much larger scale and are normally run over a couple of days, but
the problem with these can be their location, as you will probably have to travel a distance to visit them. So, why not
make a day of it - take your Mum and your bridesmaids and grab a spot of lunch too? The national events certainly
offer a great range of suppliers and you are bound to find new products and ideas that you had never even thought of
before. However, will these suppliers cover the area you require or will you be able to find something the same near to
home for your big day?
The one thing I personally don’t like about the national wedding fairs is how busy there are. You sometimes can’t
get anywhere near to a stall that you would really like to take a closer look at and then there are sometimes not enough
staff on the stall to talk to or assist with your enquiry. Smaller, local fairs have the opposite affect, there are sometimes
so few people turn up to look around that you feel pressured into talking to the suppliers as you are the only ones
looking at their stall!
