PRESENTATION ON

NATURAL PHENOMENA OF EARTHQUAKE

By- S.K. Chakrvarti

What is earthquake?

An earthquake (also known as a quake, tremor or temblor) is the result of a sudden release of energy in the Earth's crust that creates seismic waves. The seismicity, seismic or seismic activity of an area refers to the frequency, type and size of earthquakes experienced over a period of time.

An earthquake is a shaking of the ground caused by the sudden breaking and movement of large sections (tectonic plates) of the earth's rocky outermost crust.

Cause of earthquakeThe damage caused due to an earthquake depends on the location of the epicenter of the earthquake. Major destruction occurs near the epicenter of the earthquake because maximum intensity locates at the center. Sometimes because of earthquakes there may be volcanic eruptions and landslides.

Earth’s tectonic plates are marked by faults or fractures. When the tectonic plates slide past each other or have a collision with each other, an earth quake occurs.

.when the rocky material along the interface of theplates in the Earth’s Crust reaches its strength, itfractures and a sudden movement takes place there(the interface between the plates where themovement has taken place (called the fault) suddenlyslips and releases the large elastic strain energy storedin the rocks at the interface

Tectonic plates are made of elastic but brittle rockyMaterial. And so, elastic strain energy is stored in themduring the relative deformations that occur due to thegigantic tectonic plate actions taking place in the Earth

Map Show

Almost 500,000 earthquakes occur each year that can be detected with the latest instruments. Among these, around 100,000 can be felt. Minor earthquake prone areas on earth are Italy, Greece, New Zealand, Turkey, Portugal, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Peru, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, California and Alaska. Majority of earthquakes occur in the course of 40,000 km long circum-Pacific seismic belt which is in the shape of a horseshoe. Himalayan mountain plate is another zone where massive earthquakes may occur. With rapid rise in population in countries like Japan, Mexico and Tehran, because of their presence in seismic zones, major earthquakes may occur.

list out the top 10 earthquake prone countries, it goes like:

1. Japan2. Indonesia3. United States of America4. New Zealand5. Fiji6. Tonga7. Chile8. Papua New Guinea9. Mexico10. Solomon

Nepal is affected by earthquake

About 6,000 thousands people

are die in this Phenomena

Centre of Earthquake in Nepal

More than 200 climbers have been rescued around Mount Everest, which was struck by deadly avalanches in the 7.8-magnitude quake.

In Bhaktapur, country's best preserved ancient city, 16th-Century Vatsala Durga and many other buildings destroyed

How we are prevents our life by an earthquake ?

When earthquake is coming then moves outdoor from the house.

When Earthquake is suddenly coming and you have no time for run our homes or school then this method is used.
