Early Start in your High School Question & Answer SessionWebinar Agenda
Moving from open enrollment, to selective admissions.
High school students who do not meet the minimum academic standards, will no longer be allowed to participate in Early Start at Nicholls State University.
Nicholls Admissions Requirements
Beginning in Summer 2012, high school students wishing to participate must complete the newly designed Admissions application.
This application is not available at this time, once it becomes available, it will be forwarded to you.
Nicholls Admissions Application
Admissions Application Must be complete, and all requested documents
received by the posted due date for an admissions decision to be determined.
For the Fall, you can expect the due date to be about 15 business days before the start of the semester (around August 1st this year).
If you are hosting an Early Start course on your campus, please keep this due date in mind, so that your students’ applications have time to be processed and the course set up in our Banner system.
As in the past, students must reapply each semester they wish to enroll in Early Start.Application

Board of Regents Tuition Assistance At this time, it does not seem
likely that Board of Regents funding will be fully re-instated, and available through an application process.
Funding is likely going to be supplied through MFP money, but the details of this has not been released.
LDOE Press Release: http://www.doe.state.la.us/offices/publicaffairs/press_release.aspx?PR=1618Financial Aid
We anticipate to invoice high schools for the courses taken by their students, in preparation for the state transitioning funding to MFP money.
When we have more details, I will pass that along.
Fee Bills
It is Nicholls policy that all students are required to agree to Financial Obligation Statement every semester of enrollment, prior to course registration.
It is unclear, at this time, if we will enforce this for Early Start students, since it is likely that we will be billing the school district for the student’s course(s).
As more information is available, I will forward it on to you.

On-Campus & Off-Campus
Course Fee All students, on and off-campus, who enroll
in a course that carries a course related fee will be responsible for the course fee.
Late Fee Students or school districts who do not
pay their fee bill by the appropriate deadline (to be determined), will be assessed late fees.
Late Fees or Late Registration Fees will no longer be waived for Early Start students.
Other Fees
Once admitted and the Financial Obligation Statement accepted or school contract is in place, students will be given their preferred course/section on a first come, first serve basis.
If the desired course is full, the student will be asked to select another course. Requests to override class limits will not be granted.
All courses enrolled by the student, but not dropped by the 14th class day, will become part of the student’s official and permanent academic record.
Registration
