Mercantilism

• Economic policy of the British – Export more than they import• Export=sell, import=buy• Sell more to the colonies than they buy!

– Colonists sell raw materials to England, and then buy back the “finished” products• England makes a profit selling back the products

– Ultimately helps the British and hurts the colonists– Navigation Acts were part of this policy
