Conventional heat dryers that use water,
overheated water, vapour or diathermic oil
systems or direct heating systems with gas
operated air/fumes exchangers to generate
heat. Our dryers are built with load bearing
structure in AISI/304 stainless steel sized to
resist to the high mechanical stress to which
the system may be subjected.
«COPCAL HT»KILN DRYERS
COPCAL HT is the traditional dryer with
fork-lift truck front loading.
COPCAL HTT is a tunnel dryer using a
loading system with truck on rails.
This solution is particularly suitable for
drying large quantities of softwoods.
For rapid drying, the heating system
envisages high operating temperatures
and the use of steam for humidification of
wood.
COPCAL HT-TP / COPCAL HTT-TP (techno-
logical parts) are dryers with a load-bearing
structure not in STAINLESS steel with insulation
panels, but in masonry built by the client. Dryer-
wood srl supplies the construction project, inter-
nal technological parts, the loading hatch, roof
and electrical panel. In some areas of the world,
this type of solution may prove to be more eco-
nomical for the client.

formity with a specific time/temperature pro-
gram that can heat the core of the wood to at

These guarantee ideal temperature and
humidity conditions for the storage of large
amounts of wood. The wood is dried at low
temperatures and high relative humidity levels
up to 25-30% of the fibre saturation point,
preserving the qualitative characteristics of
wood and reducing stress and tension.

Units with a direct or indirect vaporization system where the action of the steam together with the air temperature at 90°C, melts the salt and sugars of the wood changing the natural colour of wood and making it uniform.
«COPCAL HT» STEAMERS
COPCAL VAP-D Direct steam; the saturated steam
required for the steam generation process is produced by
a generator at low pressure, approx. 1 bar, and is injected
via special pipes to the chamber , while the condensate is
collected and removed via ducts integrated in the base of
the chamber.
COPCAL VAP-I Indirect steam; the steam
required for the steam generation process is made by
a tank incorporated in the base of the chamber, which,
once filled with water is heated by a heat exchanger
fed with overheated water, steam or diathermic oil. The
condensate is collected inside the tank.
COPCAL VAP-G Indirect steam; with heat gene-
rator; the steam required for the steam generation pro-
cess is produced by a tank on the base of the chamber
with water/fume exchangers fed directly by a gas or
diesel generator. The condensate is collected inside the
tank.

Axial fans designed for maximum air flow rate and pressure performance. The rugged impeller comprising hub and wing-profile blades is made of die-cast aluminium and is en-closed in a conveyor tube with rounded edges. The electric mo-tor is coupled directly to the im-peller and fixed to the conveyor
tube with stainless steel bolts. The electric motors are closed versions, constructed in Class H, with in-sulation rating IP55, with special bearings for high temperatures, tropicalised windings, condensate drains and motor shaft in stainless steel. Each fan is balanced and tested on the workbench.
Mobile deflectors for compensation of resi-dual space between the under-side of the roof and wood to be dried. Produced with a flexible rubber fabric or in aluminium and stainless steel with manual opening and closing command to facilitate dryer loading and unloading.

Loading doors of chambers in special aluminium profiles extruded from our own dies. Each door is designed with criteria of sturdiness and resi-stance to guarantee maximum sealing, structural strength and heat insulation also on large-scale. The doors can be solid sli-ding versions with hydraulically lifted trolleys or with supported folding doors.
Special EPDM rubber seals suitable for low and high temperatures, resistant to substances released by the wood and mechanical and elastic stress, to guarantee perfect sealing efficiency and unaltered characteri-stics over time.
Inspection hatches to enable access to cham-bers for product inspections and checks. Our doors are made of aluminium profiles and the type of insulation panels used for wal-ls, thus ensuring perfect heat and airtight sealing, also thanks to the EPDM rubber seals.
False ceiling comprising ribbed aluminium sheets fixed to the internal load-bearing structure. The purpose of the false ceiling is to produ-ce a channel through which the air circulated by the fans passes from one side of the chamber to the other.
Heating achieved by bi-metal exchangers with stainless steel or copper pipes and aluminium fins to increase the exchange surface.Correct sizing of each exchanger is fundamental to ensure the cor-rect heating output required for each type of wood to be dried. The heat exchangers are equip-ped with stainless steel mani-folds for the external hydraulic
connection to the chamber and 3-way solenoid valve, sized accordingly.

Air exchange flues comprising motor-driven butterfly dampers with servo-motor and constructed in stain-less steel and aluminium with special closure seals. When cor-rectly sized in terms of dimen-sions and quantity, guarantee rapid dehumidification of the drying chamber.
Humidification system for air inside the chamber to avoid alterations to the wood fibre and colour and guarantee correct moisture con-tent. The humidification system is made of stainless steel pipe-lines in which special atomi-zer nozzles are installed, which thanks to the high pressure, ato-
mizes the water into small particles to thus aid rapid absorption into the air. The humidification system may be single or double depending on the direction of air ventilation, and each system is equipped with a solenoid valve and a water filter.
Electrical panel for control and management of the chambers throughout all the various phases of the hea-ting cycle, constructed with a protection rating of IP55, and compliant with current stan-dards. Each electrical panel is equipped with a control unit with display for constant information
on the phase of the cycle in progress; it is fitted with start and stop commands and luminous status indi-cators. Top quality and easily available electric and mechanical components, as well as electrical parts of the electrical panel. For control of the fan speed, an inverter drive is installed, complete with special RFI filters, and capacitors to avoid disturbance and electromagnetic interference. With the Copcal Sy-stem RX remote control system connected via PCZ-USB RS485 to the control unit, remote management of the chambers is also possible via PC.

Electrical system engineering comprising electrical connections between the electrical panel and various system components.These may include: fans, 3-way heating valves, air exchange flues, humidification solenoid valves, climate parameter de-tection sensors and wood status
conditions. Each Copcal system is supplied complete with a set of electric cables supplied as standard, re-quired for connection of the various actuators to the electrical control panel. Only specially sized double insulation cables are routed through the chamber and in areas subject to exposure to various temperature levels.
Direct gas generator, a valid and cost-saving solution for heating is the direct gas generator, which avoids the need for the boiler and relative hydraulic circuit, thereby redu-cing heat dispersion and heating costs to a minimum. It also ac-celerates the heat process times with minimal management and maintenance costs. This heating system is made up of a dual sta-ge blown air burner operating with gas fuel. The burner is con-nected directly to the combu-stion chamber with an air/fume heat exchanger with INOX AISI
316 heavy gauge steel pipes. The heat exchanger pla-ced horizontally and subject to direct impact of the air flow generated by the fans, disperses heat thus heating up the chamber and the wood inside. The combustion fumes circulate inside the heat exchan-ger without any contact with the air circulating in the chamber, thus avoiding any risk of fire.The burner is fitted with an electronic control unit with automatic ignition and flame control, double fuel shut-off valve and other safety systems. A cen-trifugal suction fan is installed downline of the heat exchanger for discharge of the combustion fumes to the flue.
