• The following presentation is an example of the project my students will be putting together.

• Within my lesson plan I discuss how I will show my students examples of successful Power Point projects put together by previous students.

Government/ Society Creation

• Students will produce a Power Point presentation showing knowledge of various governments by creating their own society and assigning a chosen government to their society.

• This example shows proper knowledge of the chosen government as well as the correct amount of slides, transitions, graphics, hyperlinks, and creativity in order to exceed rubric requirements.

Historical Background

The Island of Mariachi was established when the 2014 Survivor television series planes crashed in the South Pacific region. This particular season was titled “Celebrity Musicians Gone Wild.” The communication and technology plane crashed into the ocean. The cast and crew plane managed a crash landing on an uncharted island. The twist was, that only the people on the plan knew where their final destination was. So no one knew what happened, or where they were.

After a couple of months without any outside contact, they had to establish some form of organization. Since the crash in 2014, till present day 2109 the musicians and crew have established a inhabitable island, well formed government, and a decent bartering economy. Many people thought the famous musicians and crew had died. LITTLE DID THEY KNOW!

Willie Nelson, the first appointed leader, won the hearts of all of the people with his newly revised song, “Mamas Better Let Your Babies Grow up to Be Commies.”

He had a long and prosperous reign as president until he died in 2035 at the ripe age of 98.

Communism

• Government controls and plans economy.

• Joint ownership of property.

• All goods shared equally by the people.

• Organization of labor for common advantage.

Culture

1. Heavy artistic influence.

2. One of the most diverse societies ever established.

3. Laid back attitude on life, some might even label this attitude lazy.

4. Most everyone has some form of a religious view, but there is not one dominant religious group.

Very Artistic

• Made up of mainly musicians, who express their emotions through music.

• Beautiful colors and music can be seen and heard throughout the island.

• Everyone has some form of artistic talent, and treasures it dearly.

Diversity

• Many races and many cultures came together to make the Mariachians.

• Because of the vast diversity on the island, there is no presence of racism.

• Present day citizens would not even know the definition of racism.

• People feel the ability to do what makes them truly happy.

Laid Back

• The original inhabitants were not accustomed to not having a maid or butler. They lived the “Celebrity” way of life.

• If we could have voted them off we would have.• Most people will complete the bare minimum of

what is required of them.• It is not that they would not love to do more work,

they simply do not know what extra effort is.

Religion

• People have the freedom to believe in whatever they want, whether it be Islam, Christianity, Jewish, etc.

• The names of the religions match up with what was prevalent when the original cast left, but with few books to refer to, many of the religion views and commandments have changed.

• The most common view is that if everyone is happy then the higher power must be happy.

Economic System

• Bartering-the exchange of goods or services without using money.

• Cities trade from city to city, trading the resources they have, for resources the need to survive.

Economic System

• For example: 311 City can trade their coconuts for the mangos of PF Wall City.

• There is not a currency. People are paid for the work done with all the available resources in their region.

Taxes

• The government takes 10% each year from every household’s resources to compile for the peoples’ retirement funds.

• The lack of healthcare is one thing the government is in the process of fixing.

• Healthcare, if wanted, will cost another 10% of a household’s resources (this tax is not applicable until 2112).

• It seems healthcare will always be a hot topic, no matter where people exist.

Government

• Authoritarian Party should have control over production of goods, ownership of land, and management of funds.

• No one social class should be allowed to have control over these things.

Government

• Everybody would work according to their abilities and then be paid accordingly.

• Technical innovations would create such abundance of goods that everyone works according to his/ her abilities and receives according to his/ her needs.

Historical Relevance

• The date the two planes crashed is still recognized in the United States.

• Almost all assume there were no survivors, but there are plenty of conspiracy theories since there were never any bodies found.

• Many believe this tragic event spawned the most popular television series of all time LOST II.
