PLACEMENT OF A FORM IN SPACE DEPENDS ON THE SKILL OF AN ARTIST.

DIFFERENT COMPOSITIONS HAVE DIFFERENT EFFECTS.

DIVISION OF SPACE

FORMAL DIVISION

INFORMAL DIVISION

Dividing the space in similar by various lines are known as formal division.

Lines are drawn arbitrarily to get into informal division.

An Artist can freely express his original creations.

Prominent portion of a picture is called ACTIVE space and other portion is called NEGATIVE space.

This type of division provides a pleasing effect.

lightness and darkness of a hue. It denotes megnitude of white and black. An uneven distribution of light on an Tone denotes even surface may produce different tones, whereas under even light an object may show different tones due to its different surface receiving different light intensities due to its different angles.

The character of the surface of an object is known as TEXTURE. In a picture an optic illusion of an object is created by a skilled artist by proper expression of texture.

Linear perspective

As seen in the following picture, when parallel lines of a form are inclined to a particular angle depending on its angle of vision, they get closer as their back portion is followed, then the expression is called LINEAR perspective.

Colour and Tone perspective

Closer things appear bright. As the things are getting far from our vision they get faded and light becomes dim.
