21 members braved torrential rain toattend our August meeting, which wasa very good turn-out considering theconditions. There was somediscussion about where we should gofor our next outing. With the cost of the bus hire now soexpensive we have to look at placesnot too far from home. Our Presidenthas got information about the CollieMuseum and it sounds veryinteresting. The Seniors have saidthey will share the outing with uswhich is a great help financially toboth clubs. No date has been fixed aswe will want to wait until the weatherimproves, but it is something to lookforward to. It was agreed a morningtea visit to Neil Twaddle’s museum isdefinitely on the agenda, but again wewill wait for better weather. Everyoneenjoyed our Christmas in July dinnerat the Waroona Country Café. Thefood was excellent and good friendlyservice. I’m sure we will go back. Afterthe meal a presentation was made toEileen Doran as a token ofappreciation for her 22 years asPresident. Raffles followed and then afew jokes wound up the proceedings. It was a very successful event. The next Pensioners Social Clubmeeting is on Wednesday 4th
September at 1.30 pm in the SeniorCitizens Hall. We welcome newmembers so if you are new to townand want to meet people give ourmeeting a go. I think you’ll find we area friendly bunch. If you would likemore information please ring GraceLay on 97331950

I’m often asked what inspires me towrite. I’d have to say anything andeverything. It could be a newspaperarticle, a photo, an obituary, anoverheard conversation, an event, aperson. There is no limit to myimagination.People, theircircumstances, their reactions to lifeevents, even the area in which theylive, play a pivotal role in story-telling.All these things help to inspire mywriting.I was recently driving toward the townof Harvey and spotted a road sign. Itseemed to have ‘stuck’ and withindays another story was writing itself inmy head. Book number six, perhaps?I won’t reveal the title just yet. I’m stillworking on book number five.Check out my website:www.jeanettehornby.com.auHope to see you at the WaroonaLions Club Farmers Market.

July and August have been busysocial months for Quambie ParkResidents and Clients with plenty ofinteresting events during the period. The magic show held Friday the 12th
of July was a great success andshared with special guest from HocartLodge- Harvey, Bedingfeld Lodge-Pinjarra and the Waroona communityjoining the residents at Pam CorkerHouse it was the event not to bemissed. The audience were dazzledand amazed by the magician’s tricksand illusions, a real show stoppingperformance. The afternoon wasrounded off with special afternoon tea, allowing the audience to catch up withold friends and enjoy some goodWaroona style hospitality. Thank youto the Pam Corker Lifestyle andCatering team for making the day asuccess. On a very wet and cold evening of the26 July 2013, Quambie ParkRetirement Village residents andCommunity clients celebrated aChristmas in July Function at the localWaroona Senior Citizen Hall. Theevening was a wonderful opportunity
to enjoy a catered meal of Christmas-style goodies, some Christmas Carolsand dancing, lots of dancing. Theevening was supported by QuambiePark Community Services staff whovolunteered their time to make theevening a rousing success. We aresure there were a few hoarse voicesthe next day after the singing andlaughing. A special thank you isextended to all of the CommunityServices staff for supporting the eventon the night and with the planning.Snakes alive - literally as Pam CorkerHouse hosted a special wildlife visitoron Monday the 12th of August 2013.The Road Display Group fromBaldivis visited with the residents andbrought with them , a dingo, 2pythons’ and a cuddly koala. The wildlife staff talked about the animals andprovided plenty of opportunity forresidents to touch and feel thesesamazing animals. Every one of theresidents and the staff loved the koalaas most of them have never seen oneup close before. For the python, some were a little apprehensive totouch or hold but as the photos showothers were more than happy for apython cuddle. This was a wonderfulevent and very much a fun andinteractive morning appreciated byeveryone. Well done again to the LifeStyle team for arranging such adifferent social event.

Lastmonththiscolumnlookedat theupdatedlivestockowners
hip and identification requirementsunder the new regulations that cameinto force in May. This month’scolumn covers livestock movementunder the Regulations. Pastoralistsand other commercial owners willalready be aware of many of the lawsgoverning livestock. However, ruralresidents who own just one or twostock animals, which they considerprimarily as pets, recreational ordisplay animals, may not realise thatthey must adhere to the sameregulations. Managers and stewardsof agricultural shows and field daysalso have legal responsibilities whenaccepting livestock on to the groundswhere the event is held.A letters and numbers gameLivestock being moved for anyreason, including sale, agistment, breeding or show and competitivepurposes, must be identified andaccompanied by the relevantmovement document. Horses must beidentified but don’t require paperwork. The owner registration process isessential as it provides the owner of a‘livestock’ animal with a uniqueProperty Identification Code (PIC) andidentifiers to be used on their stock.Owners of stock need to register evenif they do not own the land where theanimals are kept. The registrationindicates location and ownership ofthe animals. The PIC must be shownon all documentation for anymovement of livestock off the propertyor properties registered to the ownerof that PIC.Moving momentsThere are various reasons forlivestock to be moved, ranging fromshort-term relocation to reaching theend of their use. Even smalllandholders and people owning just a
few animals will face these situationsand decisions. Movement may includetransport to saleyards, feedlots, anabattoir, from one property to anotherowned by the same person, toshowgrounds or to a new owner on adifferent property. Regardless of thedestination, all stock must beaccompanied by the correctdocumentation at every stage of themovement. The document may besimply your PIC card for regularmovement of your animals betweenproperties listed on that PIC card. Itmay be a plain waybill where youprovide details of the property ofdispatch and destination together withproof that the livestock are beingmoved with the owner’s consent. ANational Vendor Declaration (NVD)/waybill is required for sheep, goats orcattle that are being moved from theirhome property to an abattoir, saleyard, feedlot or a new owner. Pigowners are required to use thePigPass NVD. The NVD is acommercial requirement containingvaluable information for the buyerregarding livestock treatments andanimal health. It is combined with awaybill to provide the movementdetails of the stock. Whichever type ofmovement document you use, it mustshow the PIC of the property the stockare leaving and the PIC of thedestination property. This means thatyou cannot buy or sell stock withoutboth parties being registered stockowners. NVD waybills are available byregistering with the LivestockProduction Assurance program atmla.com.au/lpa or by phoning 1800683 111. Plain waybill books areavailable from your local Departmentof Agriculture and Food office or byphoning 9780 6207. Movements ofsheep, goats, cattle and buffalo mustalso be recorded on the NationalLivestock Identification System (NLIS)database. The database allows forrapid identification of stock andproperties during a disease outbreakor residue contamination. It is theresponsibility of the person receivingthe stock to ensure the database is
updated (except for stock purchasedin a saleyard). For NLIS databaseissues not covered in this column, please contact the NLIS helpdesk on1800 654 743 or emailnlis@agric.wa.gov.au for moreinformation.Safety and securityThe Regulations aim to protect bothlivestock in transit and their ownersagainst loss, whether by theft or thestraying of animals. Importantly, therequired movement records are vitalto assist during a disease outbreak.During an outbreak there is an urgentneed to identify the source of thedisease. This is done by tracing allrelevant livestock movements andidentifying other stock they have beenin contact with. For this reason, inspectors from the Department ofAgriculture and Food and officersfrom WA Police can inspect livestockin transit and check for correctidentification and documentation atany time. The movementdocumentation and database recordsare designed to safeguard livestockhealth, food safety and the rights oflegitimate owners and traders. Formore information contact your localDepartment of Agriculture and FoodStock Inspector or the Brands Officeon 08 9780 6207.

I started playing basketball inWaroona as soon as I was oldenough, my dad, sister and brothersalways played so I was very keen toget started. I played locally inWaroona and at country week for allof my junior years. Country weekcarnivals were the highlights of theseason, they were always fun andenjoyable times and we were luckyenough to do quite well and win a fewyears. After a country week game Iwas approached by a man whointroduced himself as the coach forthe Women’s Country state team. Iwasn’t really aware what Nationals forbasketball was, but he explained it allto me and said he enjoyed watchingme play and wanted me to come tryout. It took a bit of pushing from myfamily to go to tryouts as I didn’t knowany of the coaches or other players, but it was the best decision I evermade. Since that first tryout, I haverepresented Western Australia at theNational Championships four times, atthe under 16’s, under 18’s bottom ageand top age and the most successfulteam the under 20’s team where wecame home with a bronze medal. Iwould not have been able to achieveor experience any of this without thehelp of the Waroona community. Thecoaches and support I received whenI was a young player to help developmy game and also the sponsorshipfrom businesses and the community.Without the generosity of thesepeople and businesses I would nothave achieved half of what I have, and I am forever thankful for that.Early in the year of 2012 I was givensome exceptional news. I had emaileda few coaches at colleges in Americaabout possibly attending there schooland playing in the league. I contacteda Coach at a University in Miami,Florida and he saw potential in me asa player and offered me a basketballscholarship to attend the University asa student/athlete. This had been agoal and aspiration of mine for a fewyears so I was extremely excited! Inow attend Barry University in Miami,Florida and play basketball for theuniversity. Being on a sports
scholarship does not exempt you fromclasses; I attend class every day ofthe week and then train 6 days aweek for basketball. College is quitefull on, especially trying to find thatbalance for class, homework, trainingand games and also a bit of time torelax and socialise. I attended theuniversity for one school year and Ihave been home on holidays for thepast few months. I fly out to Miamiagain at the end of August for mysecond year. Although I am sad toleave my family and friends I amlooking forward to returning for mysecond year of playing basketball forBarry University and starting classesagain. In order to receive a sportingscholarship you not only have to becommitted to your sport but also havegood grades. America works with agrading system called GPA, gradepoint average. In order to playbasketball on the team you must havea minimum GPA of a 2. A 2 is theequivalent of a C average, so a 3.0GPA is a B and the highest GPA is a4.0 which is straight A’s. If a playerwas to drop below the required GPAyou could not only be banned fromplaying for a period of time butpossibly lose your scholarship, sokeeping up with classes and grades isa very important aspect of the wholeexperience. Being away at college isa very full on experience, but one I willnot regret and look back on in 20years from now and be glad I went tothat first ever tryout to play basketballfor Western Australia. Going away ontrips around Australia to playbasketball, touring America and nowplaying for a college in America aresome of the highlights of my life. Ifanyone has any kind of opportunitylike this I encourage you to take it.The friendships you make are lifelong, and you grow as a person. If youhave a goal whether it be sporting oreducation, know that to achieve yougoal is not easy; but if you want itenough and work hard anything isachievable. Don’t say no toopportunity, you do not know whatcan come of something until you try.

BEN ELTON isknown to manypeople as the writerof the television
shows BLACKADDER, THE YOUNGONES and HAPPY FAMILIES, wherehe has written for many of hiscontemporaries in the entertainmentindustry such as Jennifer Saunders,Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, HughLaurie, Emma Thompson and RobbieColtrane. Other people may know himas a stand up comic but on thisoccasion the Book Club will look atthis multi-talented entertainer as anauthor of novels.Elton wrote his first novel STARK in1989 and his latest TWO BROTHERSin 2012 and in between has writtenanother twelve books. Those Book Club members who readthe latest Two Brothers all enjoyedthe story of the brothers one thenatural born child of their parents whowere Jewish and the other who wasAryan and adopted into the family andthe choices they had to make asHitler’s Armies begin to take overEurope and much of the story takes
place in the trenches with this warfarebeing bloody and horrific. The classsystem which still existed amongst theEnglish Army was amusing as it wasevident even at the front line. Readersfound Elton to be an intelligent writerand felt that this novel reallyshowcased his talent.Among the other books read wereMELTDOWN, BLIND FAITH, PASTMORTEM, CHART THROB andFIRST CASUALTY they werereceived with mixed reactions withsome readers finding them amusingwhilst others didn't like his humour orin some instances the topic of thebooks.Generally most felt that if his nextbooks were along the lines of TwoBrothers that they would considerreading them. This month we are reading the YoungAdult author MEG CABOT who is anAmerican writer of romantic andparanormal fiction for teens andadults she has written under anumber of names but now writes onlyunder her own name.Until next time HAPPY READING.

Waroona Lions ClubAlcoa Grant
used toupgrade
Jim’sKitchen
Recently theLions Clubreceived an
ACTION grant from Alcoa to upgrade thesurrounds of Jim’s Kitchen. SeveralLions members who work at Alcoa gaveassistance to local concreting expert,Charlie Dimasi, to concrete thesurrounds of Jim’s Kitchen. Over theyears the verandah area around thebuilding had become uneven and unsafeand it was decided to apply for an Alcoagrant to upgrade it. On the first day thearea had to be dug away and form workerected. Rain then delayed the pouring
of the concrete for a day, but any earlyrisers saw the concrete poured thefollowing day. Phil Turner drew the shortstraw to baby sit the concrete until it set,but he still managed to be absent longenough for a local youth to ride his bikeacross the edge. Well done, Phil! Thanks also to Alcoa for the grant.

Land Urgently Needed for the Lions Driver Education
Any young person who has beenthrough the Lions Driver educationProgram will always sing its praises.Over the years the program, which is runin conjunction with the RAC has takenmany of the Waroona Youth throughtheir paces and all have benefited.Unfortunately the land that we havebeen using is no longer available andthe program will have to be cancelledunless we can find a suitable site. The program is run for one day, three orfour times a year. It requires a fairlylarge area about 400 metres long by 50metres wide. This should be reasonablyflat and preferably gravel or bitumen.
If you have a site that may be suitableand you are willing for it to be used forthis purpose please contact eitherPat Deleo on: 9733 1308, orAndrew Paton on : 9733 1682.

about encouraging responsible petownership and reducing the number ofunwanted cats in the community and thenumber that are euthanased each year. The fullCatAct2011will take effect from1 November 2013and will require allcats that have reached six months of ageto be:- Microchipped; Sterilised; andRegistered with the relevant localgovernment. What does this mean for your Cat andyou?Your cat will be required to wear a collarand registration tag to ensure they canbe easily identified and returned to you ifthey become lost. The legislation appliesto all cats of all ages. If you are
concerned about your cats age and/orwelfare, your vet can issue anexemption certificate if sterilising yourcat is likely to have a negative impacton your cat’s health and welfare. For Cat breeders:The legislation requires that a personwho chooses to breed cats mustapply to their local government for apermit. When a cat is sold or givenaway, the seller must ensure the catis microchipped and sterilised prior totransfer. If the cat cannot be steriliseddue to its health or age, the sellermust issue a prepaid sterilisationvoucher to the new owner. What concessions or assistancewill be available for pensioners orlow income earners?
The Government has providedfunding to assist and provide low coststerilisation for cats owned bypensioners and people on lowincome.Pensioners will also receive adiscount on registration fees.Where can I get more information? For more information, including tipsfor being a responsible cat owner, visit the Department of LocalGovernment and Communities’Responsible Cat Ownership webpage at:http://dlg.wa.gov.au/Content/Legislation/ResponsibleCatOwnership.aspx
We have been asked our opinionof the public’s readiness for theCat Act coming into full effect inNovember. We have not seen anysignificant increase in the numberof cats being sterilised or enquiriesregarding sterilisation. We haveseen a small increase in thenumber of enquiries regarding mi-crochipping. It is our opinion thatmost of the cats we see for sterili-sation are brought in by ownerswho would have sterilised theircats anyway regardless of the Actas they do not want unwanted be-haviours or litters. These are thecats we generally see as kittensfor their kitten vaccinations andthen for sterilisation as they getolder. We would think very few ofour clients have only sterilised acat because of the Cat Act.In re-gards to microchipping we haveseen a small increase in thenumber of owners opting for mi-crochipping their kittens and alsosome older cats are being micro-chipped. We have some excep-tional owners of multiple cats whohave had all their cats micro-
chipped. On the flip side quite afew cats we have sterilised havenot also been microchipped at thesame time. A common consensusis many residents believe therewill be very little enforcement ofthe Act. In terms of affordability asterilisation and microchip are pro-cedures that only need to be doneonce in the animal’s life. They arealready very subsidised proce-dures (case in point - the entire catspay operation for a female catcosts less than the normal pricefor an inhalation gas anaestheticalone - and this is true for nearlyevery veterinary practice in thecountry). There are also subsidiesthat we provide for clients such asaged pensioners are given a fur-ther 10% off the price. In combina-tion with the Australian VeterinaryAssociation of WA we have intro-duced a further $50 subsidyvoucher for those on low incomestowards the cost of the surgery fora male or female cat. A require-ment for that subsidy is that weprovide a free standard microchipin combination with the AVA sub-
sidy vouchers (the cost of which wemust absorb as a business). How-ever this is a very limited scheme asit has been provided through thefunding from the state governmentgained by the AVA of WA from thegrants available to help with the im-plementation of the Act. This is anapproach many local governmentsare taking by seeking this kind offunding for residents so they canprovide discount vouchers as theysee fit. As a small private local busi-ness whose prices for these serv-ices are actually quite competitivecompared to the average there isonly so much we can do to help catowners. We receive no funding ordonations to cover any of the ex-penses incurred. For owners of oldercats there are exemptions under theact that can be sought on a case bycase basis if it is not in the interest ofthe animal to be sterilised or micro-chipped due to age or illness. We allknow that Waroona has a problemwith stray cats. The Cat Act is oneway to deal with this problem bymaking owners of cats responsiblefor them and the local government
September 2013 Page 29
responsible for removing the strayand feral cats that are not owned. It is the ‘semi owned’ cats that arein most need. These are the catsthat may hang around a houseand may have some food left outfor them, but nobody actuallyowns. Quite often they are malesthat live between several housesand because nobody really ownsthem they are never sterilised orgiven routine care such as vacci-nations, or any flea or wormingtreatments. These cats spread catdiseases and often live horrid livesas when they are in need they areoften shooed away because a flearidden cat with an open abscesson its flank is no one’s problem. Itcan be worse for the females inthe same situation as they oftenhave litter after litter and have allthe same kind of problems. It isthese cats that need to be target-ed. If they are loved enough bysomeone to be missed theyshould be sterilised and micro-chipped. The level of responsiblecat ownership is actually quite low.
Waroona Veterinary Clinic’s response - Continued
Few cats are routinely vaccinated. We have seen an increase in anumber of deadly cat viruses(such as Feline Aids) in the areawhich could be controlled throughvaccination. So the number of catsbeing sterilised or even micro-chipped as a proportion of cats inthe area is quite low. Even theAVA discount scheme has had avery low number of people take itup. What we would like to see issome public education for the resi-dents of the shire to increaseawareness of cat owner’s obliga-tions. We have written numerousarticles and adverts for this verypublication on the Cat Act and thebenefits of sterilisation and micro-chipping. To have this backed upas important and very shortly man-datory by the Waroona ShireCouncil would hopefully help toimprove the rate of cats undergo-ing these procedures. We wouldalso like to see the Waroona ShireCouncils plan on housing for thecats that are picked up under theact. We are concerned that our
wonderful rangers will be over-whelmed with the number of catswhich will now be their responsibil-ity. We would like to see where thecats will be housed while they arewaiting to be transferred to the catholding facility that will be set up inMandurah. How will the cats beprotected from disease and injuryfrom other cats picked up? Whatkind of disinfection regime will beused between cats housed fortransport? If an owned cat ispicked up it must be protectedfrom the feral cat carrying cat flu,Feline Aids or any number of in-fectious diseases. We are willingto provide advice to the ShireCouncil on any of these veterinaryaspects of the enforcement of theact. All of us at the Vet Clinic arehere to help. We are more thanwilling to answer any questionsthat members of our communityhave.

STOLEN VEHICLE USED IN SEVERALINCIDENTS
Officers from South West Detectives, Harvey and Waroona PoliceStations were involved in an incident yesterday which resulted in thearrest of two males. On 13 August 2013, an orange Holden Commo-dore was stolen from a home in Sweeting Way, Withers. It is allegedthere were four occupants in the vehicle, a male driver, a male pas-senger and two female passengers. It is further alleged at about1:40pm, the car and occupants were involved in a stealing offence inBrunswick, where a carton of alcohol was stolen from a store. Ashort time later the car and occupants were involved in a burglaryoffence in Benger, where property including three firearms were
stolen. Just before 2pm the car was intercepted by Harvey Police and pursued north along the South West-ern Highway. A stinger device was deployed on the South Western Highway in Wagerup, resulting in threetyres on the stolen vehicle deflating. Due to the tyre damage the vehicle stopped briefly before driving at apolice officer standing in front of the vehicle. The vehicle continued for a short distance before the driver lostcontrol and hit another car. The driver and male passenger of the stolen vehicle then attempted to steal thisvehicle before being apprehended by police. A 16 year old boy will appear in the Bunbury Children’s Courttoday charged with Reckless Driving, Fail to Stop, No Authority to Drive, Assault to Prevent Arrest andAggravated Assault with Intent to Rob. An 18 year old man will appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court today charged with Steal Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Burglary, Stealing, Aggravated Possession of StoleFirearms and Aggravated Assault with Intent to Rob.

Waroona Demons News - by Forward Pocket
Waroona Reserves will have to do itthe hard way if they are to defendtheir first Reserves Premiership in 42years. A narrow loss to Pinjarra by 10points will see them contest thesudden death first semi final versusBaldivis this week with the likelyvenue to be Anniversary Park atRockingham. They have been in thetwo positions by a clear margin allseason and it will be a tragedy if theybow out in straight sets. Third placedPinjarra have now registered twostraight wins over Waroona Reserveswhich has seen the defendingPremiers fighting to stay alive. PlayingCoach Rocky Caruso aided byassistants Justin Giumelli, VinceVitale and Lindsay Wilson will bedoing their utmost to reverse theirpoor form for the last three weeks withthe emphasis on disciplined teamfootball. First Ruck Ayden Crook hasbeen leading from the front and isdoing his utmost to ensure he doesnot miss out on a Grand Finalappearance after missing out last yearthrough injury. They sadly missed the
In the last two weeksthe League Squadhas shown they areserious contendersto defend their fifthconsecutive title inthe Peel League. They have defeated
Pinjarra by 49 points at McLarty streetoval as rank outsiders andRockingham by 47 points in theQualifying Final at Waroona Oval lastSunday.Despite suffering injuries in the lasttwo weeks Waroona have displayedan enormous will to win, strongtackling pressure and the depth ofyouth and experience holding them ingood stead. They are a good chance to marchstraight into the Grand Final this weekhaving beaten Pinjarra twice inqualifying fixtures despite themfinishing as minor Premiers..Ruckman Steele Court is “MrConsistent” every week and rovingrunners Eli Smith, Maxie Gardiner,Joel Catalano have been earning thehard ball to give Waroona forwardsevery opportunity.
Wingman Rhys Bloxsidge and DustyRoberts are experienced campaignerstogether with former AFL player CraigCallaghan and playing Coach DeanTaylor to give the midfield “real grunt”.This week will see defenders ChadPeters and Ryan McKinley playtogether for the first time this year andtogether with the toughest Full Back inthe League Ryan Court give away noeasy goals.Back Pocket Liam Thomas is enjoyingrebounding from defence and UtilityAaron Payrits plays tall with hismarking ability to be a good inclusionthis week against Rockingham.Waroona have several options in theforward line with Alan “Foxy” Wilson,Mat Thomas providing foils to FullForward Adam Clancy whose “Hands”has netted over 50 goals this year.Crumbing forwards Jayden Derosaand Rockingham Recruits the UgleBrothers Kieran and Dane furthercompliment the goal scoring power forthe Demons.Last Sunday Waroona celebrated 100League Games for Chad Peters andlikewise 150 games for Adam Clancywith every outing adding to the teamsexperience.
Captain Ben Wright remains a trumpcard together with Swingman Rhett(Taser) Mason and both apply theirskills at either end of the ground.Waroona “Brains Trust” Coach DeanTaylor and Assistant John Mason willcontinue to apply the refreshingphilosopy of a light training run onWednesday aided by the swimmingpool therapyfollowed by a sharp run on the Friday.Team spirit has been building up atthe business end of the season and ifmentally right there is no reasonWaroona can beat warm favouritesPinjarra in the second semi final toearn a weeks breakand work their way towards a FifthConsecutive Premiership Title andbreak all Peel Football Leaguerecords. The League Squad is halfway up themountain and with a little lady luckwith injuries anything is possible.Fingers crossed that Adam Clancy,Clay Smith and Courtney Lakay, atalented trio can return to make thatone day in September another one toremember.
grunt of Matt Mortimer this week dueto suspension and Jackson Hiscockwho is away on North Westemployment duties. Another keyplayer is Grant Coxon who hasearned a recall to the League squadfor the last two weeks and hisappearance will depend on LeagueSquad injuries. Waroona have a greatspine down the middle of the groundwith Key Defenders Luke Hamsonand Ben Howell and Daniel Johnson aroving Centre Half Forward and Steve“Sav” Srhoj finishing second on theReserves goal kicking list as well ashis unselfish team football approach. The Coaching Panel may need totake a punt and alternate MichaelVellacott and coach Rocky Caruso inthe centre of the ground. Damien Angiin his best game for the seasonenjoyed a switch from defence ontothe ball last week and runnersNorman Davis and Alfred Angi mustbecome involved in the game forlonger periods by applying moreforward pressure to create turnovers.Kurt Brown tried his utmost to lift his
teammates in his 150th Reservesmilestone game against Pinjarra andhis versatility will again play a key rolein his ability to play in differentpositions. Rhys Newman and ZacIndich also need to back theirjudgement with attacking football andAdam Simpson in the Back Pocket isat his best when streaming down theground with his long kicks from deepin defence. Waroona has beenbehind at quarter time in the last threegames and must apply the blow torchto Baldivis early who will be no easytask after their League was eliminatedagainst Centrals this week. Goodsides rebound under pressure and thedepth in the team cannot bequestioned. They must take a leaf outof the League Squad with adisciplined team approach anddeserve the opportunity to reboundand reach the Preliminary Final.Coach, Rocky Caruso is passionate inthe way he plays football for WaroonaDemons and he will lead from thefront to ensure the Reserves “StayAlive” in 2013.
