ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The LBR College of Engineering (LBRCE) is located at
Mylavaram, 40km from Vijayawada on Bhadrachalam
highway and is spread over 50 acres of sprawling lush
green landscape spotted with orchids and grooves. One
of the good achievements of the LBRCE is Autonomous
status from the academic 2010-11. The place is a hub of
leading power plants like VTPS, LANCO Kondapally and
Industries like APHMEl, HPCL and Bharath Petroleum.
At LBRCE the focus is on a well balanced approach where
most sophisticated infrastructure is supported by a
dedicated team of well qualified and experienced faculty.
The Management also actively involves in every aspect
and career of the faculty and students. LBRCE offers
B.Tech Courses in CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, EIE, MECH
Engineering and P.G. programmes: M.B.A., M.C.A, &
M.Tech Courses in EEE, ECE, CSE,IT and Mech. All
laboratories are equipped with state of the art facilities
backed by advanced computer systems and the latest
software. The library has over 30,442 books spanning
8589 titles. It subscribes over 100 International Journals,
74 National journals and 39 Technical and general
magazines. A digital library is a part of this facility with
over 4000 VCD collections produced from IIT’S,
EKALAVYA and SONET with 4.5TB of storage capacity
server. The students have access to internet and also to
DELNET to supplement their classrooms teaching.
ABOUT MYLAVARAM
It is situated at a distance of 40 Km. from Vijayawada.
Vijayawada is well connected by rail and road to various
places in the state. Participants can travel to Mylavaram
by busses of No.350, Vijayawada to Tiruvuru and
Vijayawada to Bhadrachalam which are run by APSRTC.
All these busses go to Mylavaram.
Objective of this training program
MATLAB® is a software package which is being used bythe scientific and engineering community all over the world.The best way to learn is by doing hands-on exercise.This training program will enable the participants to gethands-on training in practical implementation of theoreticalengineering concepts using MATLAB®.Digital Image Processing is a hands-on discipline, andthe best way to learn is by doing. This training programwill enable the participants to get hands-on training inpractical implementation of theoretical concepts of DIPusing MATLAB®. This practical software based trainingwill clarify concepts and build intuition, insight andunderstanding of the subject very well. Therefore theparticipants not only learn how to process image signalsbut also gain a deep insight into applied mathematics andprogramming skills. The developed mathematical andnumerical insight will explore the beauty of Digital ImageProcessing and also render the participants a basicunderstanding of mathematical methods such as FourierTransform, Wavelets, etc., which indeed is of great valuein many other fields.
CONTENTS
Day -1 Lab Session (9.00am – 5.00pm) :Basics of MATLAB
1. Introduction to scalar, vector & matrices, array andmatrix indexing.
2. User defined functions, Script M-files and Function M-files.
3. Graphing with plot, plotting multiple curves.
4. Solving Linear Systems.
5. Handling of Polynomials, Curve Fitting & Evaluation ofPolynomials.
6. Control Structures: Loops & Branches (for and whileloops, if structures).
7. Eigen Values & Eigen Vectors.
8. Calculus: Differentiation, Integration, Limits, sums &products, Taylor Series.
9. Managing Data files.

Day -2 Lab Session (9.00am – 5.00pm):Image Processing Applications
1. Fundamentals of Digital Image Representation,Sampling, Quantization, Spatial and Gray LevelResolution, Brightness and Contrast Control.
2. Input/Output operations with Images, Data types, Point
Processing for Gray Scale and Color Images, Linear& Non-linear Transfer Function Implementation.
3. Color Image Processing (RGB, YcbCr – Color planes).
4. Block Processing: Spatial Filtering: Low Pass Filtering(Averaging filter), Median Filtering, High Pass Filteringand High Boost filtering.
5. Fourier Transform for Images & Filtering in FrequencyDomain.
6. Image Segmentation Methods.
7. Application in various fields including Medical,Biometrics, NDT, Weather Radar Images, etc.,

Application in the prescribed format duly sponsored bythe Head of the Institution should reach the coordinatoron or before 12.03.2014. registration fee Rs.1000/- forselected faculty can be paid on spot in person on 20th,March 2014, 9.00 A.M. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) departmentis established in 1998, offers Undergraduate program(B. Tech.) in CSE and Post Graduate program (M. Tech)in CSE.
The department is having well qualified andexperienced faculty members: Professors: 4, AssociateProfessors: 6, Assistant Professors: 15. Four of the facultymembers are doctorates and remaining arepostgraduates. Three faculty members are ready tosubmit thesis. The faculty is a perfect blend of differentspecializations in Computer Science and Engineering toimpart their expertise in handling diversified courses ofthe UG and PG programs. The teaching methodology inthe department goes beyond fulfilling the syllabusrequirements of the University, to meet the today'sindustry needs. Faculty motivates and guides the studentsto do mini projects in core subjects. Special focus will begiven to develop Communication and Soft Skills. Thedepartment is having strong association with industrieslike IBM, Infosys, etc..to uplift the student's practicalknowledge.
