all basic necessities absolutely free to 25,000 poorest tribal chil-
dren.
SCHOOL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
School of Civil Engineering aims to meet the future needs of the
construction industry and society by producing professional civil
engineers competent in analyzing, designing and managing solu-
tions for practical engineering problems. It imparts sound funda-
mentals at B. Tech. level, specialized subjects at M. Tech. level
and high quality research guidance at Ph.D. level. The school is
actively engaged in several projects including consultancy and
research achievements through various publications. Major areas
of focus are on resources planning, GIS application, pavement
design, slope stability, foundation design, deep excavation,
ground improvement techniques, industrial waste utilization,
alternative building material, ground water pollution, soil-
structure interaction, seismic resistant design of structures, de-
signing of water system etc.
BHUBANESWAR
Bhubaneswar, an ancient capital of Kalinga Empire, has a great-
est architectural legacy of temples like Jagannath, Lingaraj, Muk-
teswar, Brahmeswar, etc. from 7th to 11th century A.D., which is
