►A GU10 is a type of cap fitted to a lamp (or bulb).►The GU10 cap was originally designed for halogens, then CFLs and finally

LEDs.►They have a distance of 10mm between the centre of the stubby pins.►Halogens are expected to be banned within the EU in 2018►The date was put back from 2015 as the lighting industry didn’t believe

manufacturers were ready to fulfil the demand of switching to LED.►To be classed as 50 watt halogen alternative, an LED must have

a lumen output of at least 345lms (DIM2 compliance).►GU10s have become the preferred choice for LED retrofit lamps.
