Life is a Gift
by Crystal Richardson
Chapter Director
As you read this we will have had our Thanksgiving feasts, ridden in the Coronado Holiday
Parade, and done some target practice in the desert. I hope you had some wonderful
time with your family and that you are ready for Christmas, or Hanukah or Cuanza or
whatever holiday it is you celebrate.
It is this time of year when we have a little down time that I like to reflect on the past year
and realize what a gift I have. I love getting together with family, hearing what is going
on in their lives and catching up. With my job (the one that pays my bills) I hear every
day how fast time is moving. As we get older it seems that times moves even faster. My
clients ask “how do you always seem to be so calm?” I always tell them it is a choice. I
chose to make the best of every day. I live each day as if it is my last – I try to make each
day a happy day because this life is a GIFT. So try to not let the small things irritate you.
Spend time with your family and try to find the joy in every day.
I wish you a good life and that you find the blessings in each day. I wish you “enough”
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
In my life I have “enough” and I am grateful.
Merry Christmas to all of you
And a Very
Happy New Year

“Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow.”
While everyone recognizes this quote from the balcony scene, who knew Romeo and Juliet were ac-
tually talking about stepping down as District Directors? I, for one, surely didn’t until it came time to
write this article. Many of you have asked if we are excited about becoming JAM’s (Just A Member)
and a few of you have even joked that we must be looking forward to impending promotion to JAM’s,
but in truth, there truly is a sense of sweet sorrow in our departure. After eleven years of being in a
leadership position, it will be nice to have a respite from the role of District Directors, but GWRRA
has been such a large part of our life for so long, it will feel strange to wake up on a Saturday morn-
ing and not have a motorcycle related commitment (the sweet part). On the other hand, our mem-
bers have embraced us so much that no longer being your District Directors will somehow feel odd
(the sorrow part).
For the past three years, we have been proud of California and all that you have accomplished.
From holding the largest Horizon’s Training class in the country to opening our newest chapter in
Bakersfield, you have risen to every challenge and have supported us at every turn. We have been
blessed with the best staff imaginable and a slate of Chapter Officers that truly are dedicated to their
chapters. For everything you folks have done, Princess and I are truly grateful.
The other major blessing we have is in our Assistant District Directors, Bob and Nancy Clark, which
have agreed to step up and take on the mantle. California is fortunate to have two such well-
qualified people as Bob and Nancy who have supported GWRRA for so long and we have every
confidence in them. In addition to their years of GWRRA experience and hundreds of thousands
mile on a bike they have been active in chapter life and know what it takes to help make a chapter
successful.
These past three years have been some of the most memorable times of our GWRRA lives and we
would like to thank each and every one of you for your love and support. We will still be around rid-
ing with CA1-Z, attending the chapter rallies, and will see most of you at next year’s District Conven-
tion in Bakersfield. In the mean time, we hope to see you all at the Officer’s Conference in January
(all members are welcome—not just officers). Until then, ride well and often.
Love,
Vincent and Pamela Puterbaugh

Howdy Region F!!!
Hope Everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and ate less than we did…? We can tell ya we are very thankful to know each and every one of you! We are also very thankful that you allow us to be "us" as your Region Direc-tors. We may not always do things as others do, but we hope you are having as much fun as we are and laugh-ing as much. It is so great seeing everyone at the Rallies having a blast
Speaking of Rallies, our article is really short this month (please hold your applause till the end…hahaha). We are going to use our space for the Region Rally and your chance to win a $1,000 dollars. Our Rally will be held in conjunction with the New Mexico District Rally. We are doing this in hope that it will help us all with one less Rally trip to pay for. We have heard your feedback and know there are a lot of Rallies and are doing our part to hopefully ease some of the financial burden they may cause. With any luck it will be a success for all and we can start doing this every year in a different District.
That's all our time so please see below for Rally information (you may applaud now…?)
Join your GWRRA Friends in Albuquerque, New Mexico May 27-29, 2016 for the combination GWRRA Region "F"un Rally and the New Mexico District Rally.
See the Region F Newsletter for more information (http://gwrra-regionf.org/node/1023).

Check and Track Your GWRRA Rider Education Levels
Mike & Elma Maury, CA1F Chapter Educators
Recently, GWRRA National has made it possible for all of us to be able to track our Rider Education Levels status,
riding courses and seminar information. This site allows you to only see your information but does not allow you
to change or add to it.
To access your information, go to the GWRRA National website (GWRRA.org), and then click on either Officers or
Programs from the blue menu bar to see a drop down menu. Then click on Rider Education. On the left side of
the Rider Education main page you will see a button for “My R.E. Information”. Click on that button to access the
log in page.
To log in use your membership number as the user name and the numbers of your home address plus your mem-
bership expiration date (MMYY) as your password. After clicking on submit, you should be able to access the in-
formation for anyone on your membership number by clicking on “View” for each person.
Please contact us if you have questions or problems accessing your information. If there are any corrections that
need to be made, please notify us via e-mail and we will forward the information on to our District Educator for
correction.

Coordinators
Steve & Alma Sprenkle
As we recap membership this year, we would like to thank everyone for their participation in CA-1F: the chap-ter gatherings, every 2nd Saturday of the month, dinner and ice cream socials on Thursday evenings (yummy), mystery rides, our Halloween Fun Run, education days, extraordinary events and of course the visitation to our sister chapters. THANK YOU all. Without YOU there would be no CA-1F.
Also, we have seven new members, some you already know: Dan Conner, Dave Smith, John Maxwell, and Gary & Blancha Starkey. The other two, we have not had the pleasure of meeting, yet! Lori Stove and Lisa Wesley, we hope to meet you soon! We would like to welcome back Javier and Beatriz Chavez.
THANK YOU
TO OUR FUN RUN DONATORS
We would like to thank the following for their donations of gifts, time, and participation in this year’s fun run:
Michelle Walsh for getting the food and drinks donated for all to consume.
Rubio’s for their $25 off any catering service, & Lucy Gonzolas, from one of the local restaurants, for do-nating 10 coupons for 2 free tacos per coupon.
Bruce and Paline Pokallus, from sky med, for their donation the two $ 25 dollar gift cards.
Israel Garcia, from Cracker Barrell in Yuma, for donating a gift certificate for 2 meals and drinks.
CA-1F for your gifts, and time given to make the fun run a success.
Until next month, Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

The Education Corner
Chapter Educators
Mike & Elma Maury
On Nov. 21 we had a great skills practice at our new location! After our Chapter Gathering we met
at Mission Bay Park and rode out to Son Rise Church in Santee – 8805 N. Magnolia. We had 14
riders participate in the skills routines, and there were some cone kickers and observers. Two par-
ticipants were new members and three were from another chapter. We want to thank Rich &
Michele Kelley for helping us locate our new location, and for securing it with cones Friday night.
The lot is enclosed on three sides, so we do not need to deal with traffic. There is one way in and
out.
That being said, the lot is smaller than we would like. It would be great to have a lot that would al-
low more skills or formal Parking Lot Practice (PLP) routines to be laid out. Please think about
areas that you are familiar with. Let us know if there is a lot that makes sense. We need a large
area, free of obstructions, and in good asphalt/concrete repair. Bathrooms should be handy.
Finally, it needs to owned/operated by someone that will not charge a fee. We can supply an insur-
ance certificate.
We always say “Ride Your Own Ride”. What happens if you get into a corner “A little to hot”? First
of all your brain says “Oh Sh..”, followed by “What do I do now?”. In this moment you need to
make the best decision you can, and it needs to be the right one. More than likely, you are not at
the bike’s outer limits. More than likely, there is still more room to lean, (If nothing is scraping,
there is still room to lean.) and there is still plenty of available traction.
Do not panic. Do not look at the outside of the turn. Re-focus on the job at hand. Look through
the turn, look for the safe exit. Continue to apply your proven skills.
If you want to practice these skills and other options for your safety come out to our skills practice,
starting up again in January
We wish you a wonderful Holiday Season
However you celebrate it, we hope yours is as good as our Christmas will be

To paraphrase what we get from being a member of GWRRA, we enjoy camaraderie and fellowship while
enjoying the comfort of belonging to the largest family of Gold Wing/F6B and other touring motorcycle own-
ers. We like to share our pleasure in the freedom of riding motorcycles with others like ourselves. Members
strive for improvement by attending GWRRA live, video and webinar safety workshops. Among our 60,000 +
skilled and dedicated Members, you can find the answer to almost any question regarding the Gold Wing!
Our most important benefit is sharing how to safely enjoy motorcycling in more ways than you thought pos-
sible.
How does all this get done? By volunteers! What is a volunteer? The definition of a volunteer is 1) a per-
son that actively takes on a task, responsibility, or project on his or her own accord without needing to
be assigned, ordered, or told to do so; and 2) the act of taking the initiative on a task, responsibility or pro-
ject. This could be as a response to a request or by making the initiative to do so.
Our chapter leaders, district leaders and region leaders are all volunteers. Giving their time and expertize to
our association to keep us enjoying “Friends for fun, safety and knowledge!” But they can’t do it alone.
When the call is put out for help, this means we should all help where we can, even a small bit of help can be
exactly what is needed. So when that call is sent out, remember, this is OUR association and we should all do
what we can, when we can.
