Procedure Summary
Design a Dipole antenna under HFSS using two cylinders with the flowing geometrical
parameters:
Height: dipole_length
Dipole_length = (0,475*lambda/2) –(gape/2)
Lambda = 10 mm
gap = 0.125 mm
Radius = dipole_radiation
dipole_radiation = lambda/200
In the command tab of the cylinder entre the following:
The dipole structure is illustrated below:
The two wire define as perfect E

Create a Lumped Gap Source: This will provide an excitation to the dipole structure, Begin by selecting the YZ plane from
the toolbar. Using the 3D toolbar, click Drow Rectangle and place it between the two wires
(cylinder). In the command tab of the rectangle entre the following:
The Source is depicted below (Excitation->Assign->Lumped Port):

Radiation Boundary: To obtain the best result, a cylinder air boundary is defined with a lambda/4.
The command tab and the enter the following
Where
Radiation_height = gap/2 + ((0.475*lambda)/2-gap/2)+dipole_length+lambda/10.
Select all the face of the cylinder Radiation Boundary, right click the boundary icon

Question
Define the solution frequency about 30 GHz and the Maximum Number of Passes as 20.
Fmin = 25 GHZ and the Fmax = 35 GHz.
1. Determine the resonance frequency and bandwidth of this antenna from the S
Parameter (S<dB> (Lumped, Lumped)),
2. At the resonance frequency, what the value of the antenna impedance Z.
3. In order to test the directivity of dipole antenna make the radiation patterns for
far field report type (Gain(phi) <dB> )
