Server Consolidation

• Agenda:– What does this mean– Why are we doing it– What we need from you– How will this operate

Server Consolidation

• What does this mean?– An effort to bring all web sites and

applications to the same operating system version and Oracle database versions.

– After testing, sites and applications on older versions will be migrated to the more current environment.

– This does not mean we are changing your look and feel.

Server Consolidation

• Why are we Consolidating Servers?– Currently we have Windows NT and

Windows 2000. Oracle on NT and Oracle on AIX. Oracle version 8.04 and 8.17.

– Benefits:• Simplified Environment and Management• Reduced Cost• Load balancing, higher availability• Strategic Agility

Server Consolidation

• What the Server Project needs from you:– Completed application census– Confirm primary contact for agency– Support and participation during testing– Open lines of communication and

cooperation with project manager

Server Consolidation

• How will the consolidation operate?– Application Census results compiled – Project Plan created with timelines– Testing of sites and applications in new

environment– Migrate live sites to new environment

Thank You
