Disadvantage Frequently use of bleach

would effect to the respiratory symptoms (Zock et. al., 2009).

One out of 560 larvae treated with BW [bleach solution] (97.3% of the animals were uninfected) was recovered as an adult worm (Zanini & Graeff-Teixeira, 2001).

Bleach causes a chemical reaction in the gill tissue which blocks the transfer of oxygen and causes the lobster to slowly asphyxiate

Scope Bleaching reagent : sodium

metabisulphite Bleaching reagent

concentration :1, 5, 50 and 100 ppm

Dilution ratio of mangosteen extract solution :1:120, 1:160 and 1:200

10

Mixture ratio of bleaching reagent and mangosteen extract : 1:2

Wavelength of spectrophotometer : 410 nm

11

Materials & Method

12

Prepare bleaching reagent solution.

Na2S2O5 0.1 g H2O 1 liter

Na2S2O5(aq) 100 ppm

13

Dilute bleach solution

Na2S2O5(aq) 5 ml 100 ppm

H2O 5 ml

Na2S2O5(aq) 50 ppm

14

Mix the extract solution and different concentration of bleaching solution by 2:1 (v/v).

15

Measure the absorbance by using spectrophotometer at wavelength 410 nm.

Conclusion

Mangosteen peel extract solution can identify the concentration of bleaching reagent.

22

Discussion The color of mangosteen

extract solutions were clearer when we put the bleaching solutions.

The higher concentration of bleaching solutions the lower absorbance.

24

The plots of all ratios between mangosteen extract solution and bleaching solution have the same trend.

We use the absorbance value for drawing graph instead of the others because it is normally use.

25

Benefit We can use mangosteen extract

solution to identify the concentration of bleach reagent by natural substance.

26

Future research Testing other kinds of bleach

reagent such as sodium hydrosulphite instead of sodium metabisulphite.

Develop paper testing for bleaching reagent like Garnier paper.
