US Department of Labor estimates that 2.8 million new jobs in STEM will open by the end of the decade.

• The majority of those STEM jobs are predicted to be in computer science

• Computer science job growth predicted at 13% annually through 2022

• Next highest growing STEM discipline is engineering at 5% annually

Experts Agree: Huge Opportunity

• In 2015, CNN ranked “software architect” as the #1 job in America. - In all, 9 out of the top 25 jobs were CS-related (database developer, informations analyst, user experience designer, etc).

- List was based on job growth, compensation, and work satisfaction.

• At the same time, Kiplinger released their list of the top 25 college majors based on similar criteria. The top four spots on the list:

- Computer Science - Management Information Systems

- Software Engineering

- Information Technology

• Average of 111,000 new computer science jobs added annually (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014)

• Equates to nearly 1/3 of all computer science jobs going unfilled annually• In Utah…

• An estimated 15,000 tech jobs in Utah are currently unfilled• Utah had the highest percentage of tech job growth in the first six months of 2016
