Our Project: Design A British Restaurant for ‘X Town’

• We’ve been asked by a large company to create a concept for a new chain of ‘British’ restaurants and we have to present our ideas to them..

• Questions to consider…• We know what a restaurant is…but what is a

British Restaurant? …Something that serves British food?

• What is British food?....What does the word ‘British’ mean?

Fish ‘n Chips & Chicken Tikka Masala?

Haggis???Christmas Pudding???

Jamaican Rice and Peas??? Full English Breakfast???

?

How can we sell the best dishes to suit customers?

Food on demand from around the globe?

Or seasonal, local produce?

• What dishes would we include on our menu?

• How can we cater for everyone in ‘X Town’? Should we cater for everyone in our town?

• What is our competition from other restaurants?

• What should our restaurant look and ‘feel’ like?

Group tasks

• Group 1 – Interior Design• Group 2 – Menu Creation•Group 3 – Staffing and management•Group 4 – Customer Service

Remember – every aspect has to be described as ‘British’!
