DESCRIPTION

As part of the George Town Festival (Penang, Malaysia) this workshop follows the original Design DNA Nagoya (2008). 8 participants took on the challenge to capture George Town's DNA by going out on a field research and then brainstorming ideas about a product that reflects the city in a meaningful way. Meaningful being "something with a sense of purpose".

TRANSCRIPT

This intensive workshop took place over 2 days in George Town, Malaysia and saw the participation of 8 young designers.

How can one capture the DNA of a city and turn it into a concept, a product? That was the question all had to ask themselves, while going out on the streets to find the elements that would trigger their imagination.

It was an ambitious programme for such a short period of time. But the seeds have been planted and promising ideas came to life...
