DESCRIPTIONThe CL-231, Prony brake, provides the possibility toload a motor to determine experimentally its load characteristics. The Prony brake is also useful when making tests with a stalled rotor. Friction between thebelt and the rotating disc is controlled through a handle. The generated force is conveyed to a balance by meansof a 15-cm (6") lever, that gives a reading of the forcein Nm and lbs/ft. Included in the CL-100, Rotating Machines for 1/3 hp, 250 W.
