HISTORY

▪ India has one of the longest military histories, dating back several millennia.

▪ During the British period they started the Royal Indian Navy and British Indian Army.

▪ Indians have served for many countries during the World War I and World War II as mercenaries.

▪ Dedicated army for India was formed in the year of 1950.

▪ The President of India is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces.

▪ The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is the ministry charged with the responsibilities of countering insurgency and ensuring external security of India.
