Why French fries are called French fries?

Pomme frites (fried potatoes) first appeared in Paris in the 1840s and were immediately popular. The popularity -- and the dish -- spread to this country, where they were called

(not surprisingly) "French fried potatoes," a name later shortened to "french fries." 

Why hot dogs are called hot dogs?

Dachshund  - dog with long, slim body

A butcher who owned a dachsund named the long sausage a "dachshund sausage.“

In USA, German butcher Charles Feltman opened the first "hotdog" stand in Coney Island in 1871

Why is it called a "hamburger" when there is no ham in it?

The answer is really quite simple: because Hamburg, Germany made the first

hamburgers.

Lollies, soft drink, potato chips, hot chips, ice cream, and hamburgers,

hot dogs and other kinds of take away food are called junk

food.
