A personal timeline

of educational technology

Overview• David Hasegawa• Started school in 1964 at Liholiho Elementary

School in Kaimuki.• Graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1977.• University of Hawaii at Manoa, B.A. in

Speech, 1987.• When I finish my degree, I hope to become a

secondary Social Studies teacher in Hawaii’s public school system.

Educational Technology

• Teaches us to appropriately use, create, and manage technological processes and resources, which brings opportunities for meaningful “real world” learning.

Kindergarten technology

We didn’t have Sesame Street back then … (sorry Bert!)

but we had Romper Room with

Miss Robin and,

Checkers and Pogo.

(cartoons were big then)

High School TechnologyElectric typewriter (with correction tape; no white-outnecessary),

Overhead projectors,

and

8-Track tape players in our cool cars

College Technology

PC’s with floppy discs

and

My Nintendo Entertainment System(father of Sony PlayStation and X Box)

My vivid technology learning experience

Coming back to college

and being introduced to

the ELMO projector in

class.( I was blown away, YouTube in

class… amazing.)

A technology I want to use in my classroom

I would love to use the site mypals.com, a site that creates a global community of connected classrooms filled with projects and forums for students to communicate, collaborate, and learn from one another.

My vision of the classroom of the future

A classroom with Smart Boards and laptopsfor all.

A challenge for teaching
