Dream幸福微梦想

Dear friends:

May the letter convey my sincerest greeting from an old mysterious country China. I’m Lia from AIESEC Nanjing in NAU.Now,I’m here in Nanjing ,inviting you to join us in a fabulous voluntary project ‘DARE TO DREAM’. We have run the project successfully for 3 times,so we are experienced at assisting EP to finish the work. Our program will start from Jan 10th,lasting about 6 weeks.

There is a group of children in rural areas of China who live only with their grandparents or relatives, being called ‘LEFT-BEHIND CHILDREN’. Most of their parents have gone to big cites, hunting for higher salary to support their family. However, on account of this, the children receive little care from their parents, especially mental part. Many of them may suffer from LACK OF LOVE, refusing to express their true feelings and abandoning their dreams.

Yours, AIESEC in NAU, Nanjing

AIESEC has been striving for 20 years since 1982 and was set up in China in 2002. Over these years AIESEC has continued to grow stronger. AIESEC in Chinese mainland has been developed to the second largest AIESEC-countries around the world. In our country, there are more than 20 cities and hundreds of schools establishing the AIESEC summits. What is more, AIESEC has been collaborating with WoLe Internet, Silver Enterprise, thousands of villages and abilities Enterprise and so on, which provides volunteers from all over the world chances to achieve their dreams to help the groups that are really in need.

Rapid economic development throughout the world has caused an rich-poor gap that has forced millions of workers to emigrate from rural areas to cities. This has caused millions of children to be left behind in rural areas under the care of relatives, mostly grandparents with little or no education, family friends, or ability to take care of themselves.

Left-behind Children

Often, the caretakers do not have the physical ability, financial means, or knowledge needed to take care of these children. This causes these children to suffer developmental issues, have increased vulnerability to becoming a victim of human trafficking, become involved in criminal activities, or become depressed, which often leads to suicide. In China, there are 61 million children; 40% are under age 5. 70% of these left-behind children in China do not get to see their parents annually.

Left-behind Children

Our project ‘Dare To Dream’(‘DTD’ for short) aims to provide help and care for these left-behind children. We want to show them the sky outside their districts and different culture around the world.Throughout our course and camp,we would like to inspire their CONFIDENCE and ENTHUSIASM to explore this colorful world and make them gain the courage, dare to dream!
