Deliverable: D6.3 Consensus Web Page Page 6 of 27
1 Introduction The purpose of deliverable D6.3 is to set up the CONSENSUS website which will serve as a
collaboration tool for knowledge, experience and best practice sharing, as well as results
consolidation and dissemination support.
The CONSENSUS website will provide all related information about the CONSENSUS project,
such as scope, objectives, approach, target and results.
The website, which will be publicly available, is foreseen to incrementally provide project
information and achievements and stimulate contacts with other users.
In Section 2 follows a description of the website infrastructure. More specifically, the
website architecture is presented and the features regarding the underlying platform are
described.
Section 3 provides the website description. More specifically, different snapshots of the
public website pages are given. Moreover, the features and description of the internal
partner area are presented.
Finally, Section 4 concludes this deliverable.
2 Website Infrastructure
2.1 URL The CONSENSUS consortium has acquired the following URL which will be used by Internet
users for accessing the CONSENSUS website and the platform as well.
http://www.CONSENSUS-project.eu
Since December 1st, 2013 the site is publicly available.
2.2 Website Architecture The project’s website will consist of two discrete access controlled areas:
a public area where the public will be able to gather information regarding the
project, download the project’s publicly available material (like accepted
deliverable, brochures and other informative documents or publications) and to
find information about contacting the project’s partners, and
a private area, where only the CONSENSUS partners will have access and will be
used as a tool for the exchange of documents.
The underlying platform is Drupal (https://drupal.org/) which is a free software package that
allows easily organizing, managing and publishing content, with an endless variety of
customization. Drupal is open source software maintained and developed by a community of
630,000+ users and developers. It's distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public

License (or "GPL"), which means anyone is free to download it and share it with others. This
open development model means that people are constantly working to make sure Drupal is
a cutting-edge platform that supports the latest technologies that the Web has to offer. The
Drupal project's principles encourage modularity, standards, collaboration, ease-of-use, and
more.
2.3 Other issues
2.3.1 Hosting
The whole platform is hosted in ATC premise in Greece. The servers (Windows Server) used
for hosting guarantee the 24/7 operation of the platform, as they are capable of handling
high load and operate on a 50Mbps connection to the Internet.
Backups of the system are taken on a standard daily basis in order for the system to be able
to recover in case of a failure.
2.3.2 Site statistics
The statistics regarding the visitors of the website are constantly recorded and stored, using
the Google Analytics1 tool kit so that consortium members can anytime have access to the
history logs and be able to extract useful information about the website operation based on
those statistics.
2.3.3 Compatibility with Browsers
The website is compatible with the following web browsers:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher
Mozilla Firefox 2.0 or higher
Apple Safari 3.0 or higher
Google Chrome

3.2 Private Access Area The internal “Partners Area” of the CONSENSUS project is the project repository that all
relevant project documentation is stored centrally. It is also used for exchanging
information among members of the CONSENSUS consortium and for the EU Commission.
The private Area of the CONSENSUS website consists of various components. When working
together these components offer all the functionality required for the private area. The
components that are used are:
HTML Module
Documents (with version control) module
Drupal user permissions
The user permissions functionality grants access to the private area only to users that have
been verified by the website administrators.
The HTML module gives all the navigation information needed to the user allowing him to
easily navigate the private area.
The Documents module takes care of the hosting/upload/management of the Documents
that are uploaded to the repository. It also protects the documents from non-verified users.
The following figure gives a snapshot of the CONSENSUS private area.
