BiographyCharles Z. Lawrence,

Charles grew up in Sussex County, New Jersey knowing from his early school days that art was to be his calling. Instead of college, he apprenticed for four years with Rudy Buenz, a German-trained artist/craftsman, where he learned the disciplines and finest aspects of traditional stained glass.

On completion of his apprenticeship in 1958, he relocated to New York City for further art training at Pratt Institute and worked for a number of the best studios in the area including Rambusch, Greenland, Wise, Hiemer, and Durhan. Charles came to Philadelphia in 1968 and over the next eighteen years became one of the top designers for the Willet Studio. In 1996 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Stained Glass association of America.
