What is Plus?

Students can access the A/B Calendar on the CVHS student site or CVHS website to see when each PLUS period meets.

For example, you can see that Plus periods 6 & 8 meet on Sept 17.

Attendance Process for Parents

● Students are expected to attend all synchronous virtual classes● Please report excused absences to the attendance office

● If there is no parent contact, and the student failed to log in, the student is marked absent for that class period. An automated call will be sent that evening.

● Notify the office, counselor, or AP if the student has a hardship that will inhibit their ability to regularly attend synchronous classes.

Monday Attendance

★ Students are expected to complete asynchronous assignments on Monday

★ Students may also attend office hours or intervention with a teacher

★ Students will complete a Google Form each Monday indicating that you are

“present” and participating on Mondays

★ The student’s 7th period teacher will check the Google Form, follow-up,

and mark attendance for each Monday

Synchronous Instruction

Asynchronous Instruction

● Standard/Honors: 60 minutes per course per week. ● Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment: 75 minutes per course

per week.● To be completed on each Monday or other times on a limited

basis.

Not all students work at the same speed. Therefore, teachers will use these guidelines and their professional judgement to make reasonable assignments that prioritize the most essential learnings for our students. If you are finding that your child is experiencing difficulties with completing assignments, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher or encourage your child to talk with the teacher.

How Students Access Classes Online:

1. Open student email (fcpsschools.net account)

2. Search for “Blackboard Collaborate Invitee”Some messages may nest together - you may need to click on the 3 dots in the first Blackboard Collaborate Invitee message you see in order to expand “the nest” and see additional messages.

3. Use an Organizational Tool to organize links for your Online Classes, one example: Student Schedule Organizer

4. To enter a class, click on the appropriate link

jump back and forth between the two.

RULER is a program from Yale University that provides direct instruction on emotional intelligence.

RULER itself is an acronym that identifies different components of emotional intelligence (EQ), and the program offers a variety of strategies to help students and adults develop and expand their own EQ.

At CVHS, we have identified the positive behaviors we

expect of all Wildcats, at all times. ROAR is the acronym we

use to communicate and promote positive behavior and

create a welcoming environment for all students and staff.

Student Self-care

● Social distance socializing● Take breaks from electronics - rest your eyes● Go outside for fresh air● Get some exercise - even a walk around the neighborhood● Eat a variety of foods during the day● Drink plenty of water● Sleep a minimum of 7 hours ● Set aside free time for hobbies, non-school related activities

Students Will Benefit from Maintaining a Schedule

● Set an alarm to be up for your first class ● Allow time to eat breakfast, change out of pajamas, and brush

teeth● Schedule stretch breaks during the day● Schedule brain breaks during the day● Aim to go to bed at the same time every night to ensure a

minimum of 7 hours of sleep● Dedicate a space for you to do your work, where your

computer will be on a level surface

Parent Involvement in at Home Learning

● Be ready for questions and guidance, but allow your student to work through situations.

● Help them with designating a learning space for success.● Make time with your student to check email/Google

Classroom/Blackboard together.● Help them develop a schedule.● Check on them physically/mentally.● Assist with making sure they wake up on time to access class.
