K.O. Lynn - Custom Waja Creation Guide
1.1 - The Wajas Banner
I. Introduction Wajas is an online pet breeding simulator that allows users to collect wolf-like creatures to play, breed, socialize, and customize. It offers a variety of components for users to create and collect wajas. There are 16 different breeds, 260 markings, 54 mutations, and 12 textures to customize your wajas. Apart from the Wajas there are thousands of items with which to accessorize Wajas. The game can be found at www.wajas.com. This is a free-to-play game that uses both in-game currency Waja Credits (WC) and USD-based currency Crazy Waja Points (CWP) for purchasing Wajas and items. In-game currency can be earned by playing games, winning contests, breeding, and selling Wajas. There is no singular goal in the game. Users can create wajas tailored to their specific tastes, collect wajas with certain markings, breed to the highest generation possible, collect items, buy and sell pears or dyes, and many more. The most popular goal is to create a waja called a ‘custom waja.’ A ‘Custom Waja’ is a Waja that is created with the use of a Token instead of a breeding. Because the Waja is the first in its generation it is often called a Generation 1 (Gen 1) or Custom. A Token is used to create a specific breed of Waja with an array of markings or mutations—some of which are accessible only through Token creation—or no markings or mutations at all. This document will highlight the multitude of decisions that go into creating a Custom Waja, which includes creating the design, picking the breed, deciding the breed’s stats, and whether to breed the customs or not. Below are a couple of examples of existing custom wajas:

There are only two things that distinguish breeds from one another: their design (and subsequently the way markings are drawn on them) and their dominance on the breeding chart. When combining two different breeds, pups will skew heavily in favor of one breed over another depending on each breed’s placement in the chart. Below is the most relevant breed dominance chart : 1

Figure 2.2 - Breed Dominance Chart
The exact percentages between breeds are unknown. There are currently multiple ongoing user-led projects to determine the statistic between breeds and chart order. The website has no official breed dominance chart and is unlikely to release one. The list is deceptive in its suggestions. It is shown that a Fire is just above an Aerial in chart dominance but according to recent statistics, out of 22 pups born between a Fire and Aerial pair, only 10% can be expected to be an Aerial. 2

The Token Shop is where custom tokens of breeds are purchased for CWP only. Custom tokens are then used to create a Generation 1 Waja of the breed in question. These are the most sought after generation of Waja due to their customizability and their expensive nature. Using tokens to create custom Wajas also gives you access to more than 50 markings and three mutations that are available only through the creation of a custom. The Tokens available are Silver, Gold, and Diamond. The token descriptor denotes how many Markings and/or Mutations are possible. Silver: Allows 2 Markings and/or Mutations Gold: Allows 3 Markings and/or Mutations Diamond: Allows 4 Markings and/or Mutations Markings and Mutations can be mixed and matched as desired. Markings have both a color variable and an opacity variable that can be adjusted. Mutations only have a color variable that can be adjusted.

Figure 3.2 - Silver & Gold Tokens
Diamond Tokens are available only on special and sometimes random occasions. The staff will make them available in the shop for the late year Holiday season, but they cannot be counted on to be there every Holiday season.
5 Plushie wajas can be obtained by using a Plastic Waja Instant, which are given away at random from the Fish-a-Waja game. 6 Water Wajas require the Frog Instant. They are included as a bonus for purchasing a year upgrade for an account.

Figure 3.3 - Diamond Token
Similar to Diamond Tokens, Star Packages are also available only on special occasions. They consist of two Tokens and that breed’s Instant for the same price that two regular Tokens would fetch.
Figure 3.4 - Star Packages
Also available are the Mystery Tokens which come in each type. They are more expensive than the regular tokens, but it is the only possible way to obtain Tokens of breeds that are unavailable. It even produces Tokens for Wajas only available otherwise through the use of Instants. 7
7 The African, Plushie, and Water breeds never have tokens available on a consistent basis.

d. Instants Instants are used to change one breed of Waja to another. They are individual to each breed and rare. The website does not regularly put them in the shop and are otherwise only obtainable at high prices from user shops or come bundled with Star Packages.

b. Markings and Dyes Of the 260 markings available for customization, 197 of them are markings that are created with dyes. Dye markings give a wider arrange of options since they can be applied in addition to the limited array of markings available on Tokens. While the use of dye markings are limitless, there are obstacles for users to overcome to obtain some of these dyes. Currently, only 65 dyes can be purchased in the Shop Dye section. The rest of the dyes are rotated for high CWP prices throughout the year and frequently called Out of Shop(OOS) Dyes. When not in the CWP Shop, these dyes are only purchasable through user shops, through the Mystery Dye, the

Dye Emporium, the Raccoon King Shop, or the Leaf Exchange. The Mystery Dye, as it suggests, functions exactly like the Mystery Token where, upon purchase, the user receives a random dye. The cheapest dyes are not available via Mystery Dye, but it is unclear which dyes are otherwise available on the Mystery Dye as there is no official list. Dye Markings - Markings with ‘(T)’ means that they can also be used as Token markings.

d. Mutations & DNA Mutations offer a way to customize wajas that differ from markings. Since mutations are a physical characteristic, they differ from markings in that they are not tied to an opacity variable. When breeding a Waja with a mutation to another Waja with or without a mutation, there is a chance for the puppies to either show the physical mutation or ‘carry’ it among its list of attributes. Mutations have the possibility of three states on a Waja: visible, carried, or simply not present. Visible means that the Waja has a visible mutation. Carried means that the mutation is not visible, but it’s in their attributes, which means it has the potential to show in its future offspring. If a mutation fails to show up in a Waja’s list of attributes, it is not possible for that mutation to carry on to future offspring. Mutations

e. Textures The most recent addition to customizing wajas is the availability of textures. There are twelve in total and they are highly specialized color schemes. The schemes are colors arranged in an unchanging way, dependent on only how they are applied. They can be used as the color for any marking, mutation, or even coat color.
Figure 4.3 - Texture Selection Window

Textures can be accessed by clicking on the color box of any attribute. They are the list of buttons beneath the color picker and when selected will fill the color box. Textures Table
Table 4.5 - Textures
f. Designing With so much customizability available, it is important to go into the Custom Creation Tool with a design on hand, but designing a custom waja can be a difficult process. The obstacle of creating a design can be overcome in many ways. Some users use themes(Firebird, Pokémon, Animals, etc) or color schemes to design a waja. 10
10 Any site that offers free color palettes can be used to find color schemes for designs i.e. Adobe Kuler

Figure 4.5 - Firebird Aerial Design
Other users offer to design for in-game currency and their design shops can be found in the ‘User Services’ forum.
Figure 5.5 - A purchased design for Water Waja
Another method, that has gained recent popularity, is to create a subbreed. Subbreeds are the equivalent of dog breeds, but instead of breeding for specific traits, subbreed wajas are created around a specific template of markings with a specific coloring order. The owner of the subbreed can be as flexible or as stringent as they so choose, but the purpose of a subbreed is to create a pool of Wajas with specific markings that allow for infinite and unique breeding combinations.

VI. Pears
Pears are the singular method of increasing or decreasing a Waja’s stats and breeding Wajas together. There is no feeding mechanic in the game required to keep Waja’s happy. The only pears that may not be considered optional are Ancient Love Pears and Love Pears, since those are needed to initiate breedings in Wajas
a. Ancient Love Pear Figure 6.1 Ancient Love Pears(ALP) are fed to Wajas to induce a breeding. The name ‘Ancient’ refers to the original program that created pups with colors of a perfect median between two Wajas of two different colors. Ex: Should a
breeding between a red Waja and blue Waja be induced by an ALP, the pups will be the median shade of purple between the shades of red and blue. Breedings with ALPs produce the most predictable coloring in pups.

e. Normal Pear Figure 6.8 Normal Pears increase the Litter Quantity percentage(LQ %) by 1-3% on a Waja. The higher the LQ %, the more likely it will birth the maximum litter amount of four pups.
f. Strange Pear Figure 6.9 Strange Pears increase the mutation percentage (MU %) by 1-5% on a Waja. The higher the MU %, the more likely pups will be birthed with mutations, if they’re present on the parent Wajas. Mutation appearance can only be
controlled in its quantity. Any mutation present on the parent Wajas’ mutation table, whether visible or carried, can be produced in the pup.
g. Custom Stats As demonstrated, creating a Custom Waja can be a lengthy process. Once created, it is important to consider stats of Custom Wajas, especially if a pair is created for the intent of breeding them together. The most popular stat combination is 0% MU/50% MG/100% LQ. The MU stat will vary depending on whether the customs have mutations to carry on. The 50% MG will allow a healthy variety of male pups to be born (of which that gender is extremely rare). The full LQ of 100% will ensure that the largest number of puppies has the highest chance to be born. The LQ stat is the most significant stat.

If a large number of pups are expected to be produced to fulfill customer orders, it is important to take the breeding cycle into consideration. Upon breeding a female Waja, the Waja will be pregnant for five days. If 20 orders of pups need to be fulfilled and the LQ of both customs are at 0%, it could take between 70 - 100 days to breed all of the necessary pups. 12
For the highest likelihood of three or more pups per litter, both male and female customs require their LQ% stat to be at 100%. With 100% LQ, fulfilling 20 orders of pups will take between 35 - 40 days. 13
