DEFINITION OF CULTURE SHOCK

Culture shock is the personal disorientation a person may feel when experiencing an unfamiliar

way of life due to immigration or a visit to a new country, or to a move between social environments, also a simple travel to another type of life

FACTORS OF CULTURE SHOCK

( 1)Cultural differences - The outcome of Culture Shock appears to be a function of the differences between the own and the foreign

culture.

(2)Individual differences - This aspect refers to differences in personality and the ability to cope with new environments. It also includes demographic variables such as age, sex, socio-economic class, and education.

(3)Sojourn experience - The experiences

sojourners have and the treatment they receive from members of the host society have a

strong influence on the adaptation process.
