The Collection of Anatomical Waxes by Clement Susini

The Museum of wax anatomical is named Clemente Susini . The museum houses are one of the most interesting collection of wax anatomical models in the world. The wax is spread over 23 wooden boards, which are fixed one or more pieces of the collection, protected windows and accompanied by captions.

The National Gallery of Cagliari exhibited various collections resulted from private donations and state acquisitions.

In the halls of the gallery are housed

paintings by Sardinian artists from the 16th to

the 20th century, paintings of the XV-

XVIII from the schools of Genoa, Naples and

Rome. There is also a

collection of Sardinian and Catalan altarpieces

of the '400 and '500.

The museum also contains a collection of ethnographic and craftsmanship.

The museum contains a corpus of about 250 works including paintings and sculptures dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the eighties, and another 250 works in the rooms of the collector s as well as artistic production of 900 Sardinian

GALLERIA COMUNALE D’ARTE

It contains and preserves precious treasures that have resulted from centuries of sacred history: vestments, chalices, pyx, monstrance, crosses professional), wooden statues and paintings. Particularly significant is the triptych of Pope Clement VII.

The Botanical Garden of Cagliari, part of the University of Cagliari, is situated in Via Sant’Ignazio, Today the Garden, which covers an area of 5 hectares, has trees and shrubs typical of ranges of Sardinia and Mediterranean vegetation.

On the hill of San Michele rises one of the most fascinating monument of the town. It dates back the 10th century A.D. and it had defensive function. Since 2001 has become multi-purpose

art center, home to some of the most important artistic events of recent years

It’s in the Sant’Elia quarter. In the XV century it was a hospital facility destined to plague victims .The former hospital has been given back to the city in 2000. The museum hosts temporary exibitions, conferences, shows and artistic and scientific laboratories.

This complex has been for a long period, a company working for wine and spirits. Following the distillery has joined, too, a glass factory. During the 60s the cessation of production activities has led to the progressive deterioration of buildings.The restoration of property, executed with great skill, has returned to a multipurpose community (cultural, recreational and exhibition), as well as an area of parks in the surrounding space.

The EXMA is the old municipal slaughterhouse. It was built in 1846. After years of neglect in 1993 was returned to the city by the will of the City. The EXMA, located in the centre of city, covers an area of nearly 6000 square meters. The three exhibition halls host exhibitions that range from graphic design, photography, popular traditions, the art computer.It also holds a year-round series of small-scale concerts. In summer it also provides an atmospheric venue for open-air jazz and classical concerts

Music and Theatre

the Teatro Comunale, which has staged opera at the highest level.

The theater has two halls: one with 594 seats in the auditorium steps, 134 in the gallery and 24 in eight lodges side, another, more intimate, 198 posts.

The Municipal Auditorium is located in Piazza Dettori , in Marina district.It’s housed in the former church of Santa Teresa.After World War II the church has begun to be used as a concert hall.

The interior was finally transformed and adapted to function auditorium between 1982 and 1984.

The Civic Theatre of Castle is located in Cagliari. The historic building, recently restored and used again, located in Via Mario de Candia in the district of Castello.

The festival is dedicated to Efisio, the patron saint of Sardinia.

Our Lady of Bonaria, the highest Patron of Sardinia, is a moving event and one that is like no other on earth. To commemorate the miraculous landing of the statue of Our Lady on the beach at Bonaria, she is accompanied by a procession of boats and the sound of their sirens, from the city’s harbor to Su Siccu beach, located opposite the Basilica named after the Patroness, Our Lady of Bonaria, who dominates and protects the sea.
