F1 racing legend Ayrton Senna was recreated as a hologram for a unique event held in the ‘Teatre Principal’ in Barcelona to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Formula One’s McLaren’s team’s partnership with Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer. The star-studded celebration also included appearances from double World Champion and current McLaren-Honda driver Fernando Alonso, and Bianca Senna, Ayrton’s niece. Endorsed by the Senna family for the launch of the Senna collection with TAG Heuer, the hologram painstakingly recreated the Brazilian legend in classic racing attire, dressed in overalls and with his signature yellow helmet held beneath his arm. Using a sample of pre-existing audio, Ayrton glanced at his watch before addressing the audience, jumping into his holographic representation of his 1988 world title winning car and racing off stage! To complement this extraordinary event, Creative Technology (CT) was contracted to provide an 18m2 Absen 3.9mm LED display. The screen displayed film, media and promotional delivered by CT’s media server, giving the celebratory launch true wow factor. Ayrton Senna won all three of his World Championships with the McLaren, during which his car bore the logo of the Swiss timepiece specialists. Considered by many as the greatest racing driver of all time, the Brazilian met his untimely death at the age of only 34 at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
