One can only wonder…
What has happened to the person that had a
hungering for knowledge? I myself, find that I
am too busy to stop and read things that are
sent to me on my email or e-magazine. If I
have it in my hand I will sometimes get to read
a few things in the magazine, but I find myself putting it off. Too many
jobs to try to get done in one day. Not enough hours in a day. I even
find myself sleeping to the 10 o'clock news. I sometimes wonder how I
was able to accomplish so much, just a few years ago. I start counting
the years only to find that it has been more years than I care to count.
How come we can learn so much in our youth and forget so much in
our declining years? I guess...one can only wonder…!
I have not been doing such a great job at this newsletter. I blame it on
my poor health or even my lack of time to devote to the task at hand. I
have been asking if any one would like to take it over, but no reply. If
no one objects or volunteers then I will just keep doing the best that I
can. Thanks for your patience and your help in making this possible.
Thank you to Paul Arens our Vice President for taking over in my
absents. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.
Your President, Mike Middick, CML

The Office of Vice President
This time I will comment on Len’s letter in last months newsletter.
Now remember, this is just my thoughts.
I helped found this association with Ron Morris many years ago,
and I am still proud of it and the things it helps me with. Not sure
if everyone thinks the same way, but I do see a lot of good each
month. The experience from each member and their sharing is
great. What better way can we learn, we can ask questions each
month and others most of the time have the answer to make our job
easier.
Not sure if Len is a member and if not - why not. I know he worked
at the school, but that is ok too. As for e mail addresses we all have
one and it is in the newsletter. Wish he could have started this
earlier - so we all could have worked on the problem.
Stagnation is one of the words used. I think we do need new blood
in the officers areas. When was the last time we went to elect new
officers just to find the same ones on the vote sheet. Most of the
time there is only one person to vote for, no one else runs. Now the
question is, if no one runs, do we fold and not have this
association? The same people run just to keep us alive. This part
about no one asked me if I would run, or I am just to busy for that
(we all are busy), keeps the stagnation alive. Remember, that Mike
asks every month if anyone wants to do the newsletter, he is doing
the "if not me job”, do we fold this part of the association (the
newsletter) and just meet. If he is not the president, what would
happen to us. For this I feel sorry for Mike, and at the same time I
thank him for all he does. Think Mike is not busy?
The "ALL THINGS FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF THE
ORGANIZATION - PEROID" really should start with the word
CSCLA 9
“ME”. Others can work their thing the best they can, but if I don't
step in and help I really can't expect things to go how I want them
to go. When we started this association it was for the education of
the locksmiths and to help them show people that we are
professionals and can do the work right the first time. This comes
into play each time we meet and talk about how to do the job at
hand and do it right.
As for fellowship, this can happen any day of the week, why wait
for the meeting. I can go to the Sky Sox game and invite who ever
I want, even other members. That goes for any fun things, we do
not all go for the same types of entertainment. I enjoy the Cripple
Creek thing when ever possible.
As for the grunt workers, we all need them - that is what keeps us
going. It is just that sometimes I too would like to be a grunter. If
we all do that we can just shut this down.
This letter is not for Len, but the rest of us. We need to think of our
future and how we can help keep it going.
Paul Arens

Dirty Santa is a gift exchanging game with a dirty twist. The
game is played by anybody who brings a gift to exchange.
The rules for the game are explained below.
1. The gifts must not cost over $20.00.
2. The gift must be wrapped or in a gift bag.
3. Only one gift per participant.
4. The gifts are placed on a table and those playing write their
name on a piece of paper to be drawn at random to play.
5. The first person drawn chooses a gift of their choice from
the gift table and opens it for all to see.
6. The next person drawn has a choice. They can either choose
a gift from the gift table or they can rob the gift from the gifts
that are opened. If your gift has been taken, then it is your turn
again to either open a new gift from the gift table or rob a gift
from another player and so on.
7. Play continues until all players have been drawn to play.
8. A gift can only be robbed 3 times before it is no longer able
to be taken by another player.
9. A gift cannot be taken back immediately by the player from
whom it was robbed. (You can take it on your next turn)
10. After all names have been drawn and play has ended, the
person that was drawn second now has a chance to either keep
the gift that they have now or trade with anyone in the room
with an eligible gift. (You cannot take a gift that has been
robbed 3 times)
11. Next the person that was drawn first now has a chance to
either keep the gift that they have now or trade with anyone in
the room with an eligible gift.
12. After all gifts have been claimed by all participants, the
game is over.
