CropSustaIn WP4: Technological modernisation

of research facilities

Irena Mavrič Pleško

To upgrade KIS laboratories

To achieve technological modernisation of research equipment in order to retain competitiveness

Objectives

Background

Good basic research infrastructure at KIS

There is some need for modernisation in order to be in line with new technologies and research

KIS prepared a list of 13 pieces of equipment to be purchased in the

first two years of the project duration – 9 pieces in the first year and 4 pieces in the second year

The procedure

According to local legislation

Three categories according to the net price

19.999 EUR – issue of ordering document

39.999 EUR – tender published electronically at web

portal (Portal javnih naročil)

over 40.000 EUR – tender published electronically at

web portal (Portal javnih naročil) – more complicated

procedure

Category 1 equipment (limit 20.000 EUR)

5 pieces of equipment:qPCR – upgrade of the instrumentBioanalyserPortable chlorophyll fluorometerMeasuring equipment for estimating power consumption of tractor powered spraying machinesPC server (second year)

If possible we need three offers from equipment providers

Decission for the best-quality-for-the-price

Purchase, instalation, training

Category 2 equipment (limit 40.000 EUR)

5 pieces of equipment:Microscope binocular + digital visualizationEquipment for pesticide applicationCapilary electrophoresis-140°C freezer (second year)Instrument for fast analysis of grape, must and wine (second year)

More complicated and longer procedure

Estimated time for decission – about 2 months

Decission for the best-quality-for-the-price

Contract, delivery, instalation, training

Category 3 equipment (over 40.000 EUR)

3 pieces of equipment:Microscope (Nomarski) + 3D reconstruction + digital visualizationUltra high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC)Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) + ENVI software – tender on European portal

Some additional requests

Estimated time for decission – about 3 months

Decission for the best-quality-for-the-price

Contract, delivery, installation, training

Hyperspectral imaging (HSI)

Non-invasive method for disease detection and plant stress studiesThe system detects reflected or emitted electromagnetic energy from the objectsEach object has a unique distinctive spectral signatureContinuous spectral data is obtained in the wavelength of the HSI detector

NEO, Norway

Hyperspectral imaging

The system with two cameras of different wavelengths – 400-1000 nm and 1000-2500 nmThe system can be used in laboratory and field experiments and can be upgraded for aerial photographyExperimental fields:

Diagnosis of plant diseasesBiotic and abiotic plant stress researchFor the analysis of multispectral satelite images

Persons responsible for each piece of equipment

The tenders will be prepared for each piece of equipment according to technical needs

After installation the training will be prepared by the provider

Training of all interested personnel from KIS by provider or experienced staff from KIS

Reporting

For each piece of equipment we will deliver a report on the new acquisitions and the related sessions

• Details on the procedure and selection of the provider

• Delivery and instalation

• Training

Activities

Some activities already started

• Study of the legislation and geting familiar with the procedures

• Studies of the market

• We already have the first offers in our hands

• First expected deliveries and instalations probably in the

beginning of next year

Thank you!
