Open the following 3 files:>> Shared area>> Geography>> Google earth kmz files>> Year 8>> Crime in London

Task 1 Mapping Total Crime

Task 1: Mapping Total Crime You will turn each borough into a 3D polygon

to show the total number of crimes. The higher the borough, the more crimes.

1. Right click on the name of each borough in the “places” menu.

2. Click properties

3. Click Altitutde

4. Change the height to the number of crimes

5. Click “extend the sides to the ground.”

Task 2 Choosing One Specific Crime

1. Choose a type of crime that interests you.

2. Use a colour system to colour in the key. It is always good to make “more crime” darker than “less crime”. You will use the same colours in Google earth.

You will no colour in all of your polygons in to show the level of one specific crime in that borough.

1. Right click on the name of each borough in the “places” menu.

2. Click “properties” then click “Style and colour”

3. Choose the colour that you have used in the excel document

4. Click “outlined” and change to filled

5. Change opacity to 50%

6. Carry on and complete the other three boroughs
