Peter Bocock is an explosive batter and wicket-keeper currently into his second annual contract with the Northern
Knights in New Zealand domestic cricket. Bocock earned his initial contract for the 2018/19 season through his sheer
weight of runs for the Northern Districts A side and Hamilton in the Fergus Hickey Trophy.
Bocock justified his selection last summer with a barnstorming Ford Trophy campaign – finishing amongst the leading
run-scorers for the Knights with 213 runs at 42.60 with fifties against Canterbury (57*), Auckland (51) and Wellington
(56). Courtesy of these exploits, he was pushed to open the innings for the Knights in the Super Smash T20
competition. Whilst he hasn’t set the Smash alight, he’s shown sufficient evidence to suggest he has a long future in
the Pink shirt for the Knights.
Whilst known for his hard-hitting ability with the bat, he is an accomplished player in the longer format and, to date,
has played 3 Plunket Shield matches for Northern Districts. As it stands, he needs two more red-ball games to meet
International Sportsperson Visa criteria to return to the UK in 2020, otherwise, he’ll seek a club in Ireland or Holland.
The former New Zealand Under-19 squad member and key performer for New Zealand in Indoor cricket spent four
seasons playing in Scotland for East Kilbride. His performances helped the club to several promotions and in 2014 they
played in the Scottish top tier - CSL Western Premier Division. He finished as the divisions 9th leading run-scorer with
309 runs at 34.33, following productive seasons in 2012 (227 runs at 45.40) and 2013 (364 runs at 60.66 and 6 wickets at
14.16).
Bocock is a very talented sportsman, who could have been a professional tennis player - he was ranked number three
in New Zealand until he ripped three tendons in his arm - he quickly found his passion belonged to the sport of cricket.
Bocock is eager to secure another opportunity abroad in 2020 and is someone that comes highly recommended, not
only as a cricketer but someone who will be heavily invested in coaching and club life.
