berland, was named a Commended
Student in the 2015 National Merit
Scholarship Program. Commended
Students placed among the top 5%
of more than 1.5 million students
who entered the 2015 competition
by taking the Preliminary SAT/
National Merit Scholarship Quali-
fying test.
Greer, the son of Mark and
Eileen Greer, is a senior at Timber-
land, where he is also a member of
the National Honor Society.
For his Eagle project, Greer
built a youth fire ring complete
with a fire pit and seating area at
the Benchrest Rifle Club in Wright
City. The extensive project took
more than 250 hours to complete
and was made possible through
the help of two dozen Scouts and
adults.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank
attainable in the Boy Scouts of
America. To attain Eagle, a Scout
must earn at least 21 merit badges,
display leadership and outdoor
skills, demonstrate by example the
Scout Oath and Law and complete
a comprehensive service project in
the community. For more informa-
tion, visit stlbsa.org.
St. Peters Earth Centre charges a nom-
inal fee for non-residents and commer-
cial customers to use St. Peters Earth
Centre. For a limited time, that fee
has been reduced from $10 per cubic
yard to $5 per cubic yard, according to
a press release (note: two cubic yards
equals approximately one pickup truck
load).
St. Peters residents may dispose of
up to 30 cubic yards of brush per cal-
endar year at no charge.
The brush can be no larger than 30
inches in diameter and 8 feet in length.
To help the environment the brush is
ground and used to make mulch and
compost. Earth Centre then sells
mulch and compost to residents, non-
residents and commercial customers at
reasonable rates.
For more information on St. Peters
Earth Centre, visit www.stpetersmo.
net. St. Peters Earth Centre is located
at 115 Ecology Drive in St. Peters, MO.

Tiger Docks recently completed a
1,208-square foot floating dock system
at Towne Park in western St. Charles
County, providing extensive access to
the pond adjacent to the park’s education
area, according to a press release.
Towne Park is named for the late Betty
Towne, who donated the land for this
purpose. Towne Park is unique in that it
includes the only certified Nature Explore
Classroom in St. Charles County. Tiger
Docks helped to expand the education
experience offered by the park’s 11 learn-
ing stations by making the large pond
on the property more user-friendly for
school groups and families. Towne Park is
a popular destination for field trips with
nature.
While a .3 mile trail encircles the
pond, Tiger Docks’ boardwalk dock sys-
tem brings visitors in contact with the
wonders of nature by inviting them into
the middle of the pond environment
via floating pathways. The dock system
extends from one side of the 1.5-acre
pond to another, with larger viewing
areas built in for fishing and educational
activities. The total project includes two
bridges, a floating dock walkway that
crosses the entire pond, two wider educa-
tion platforms, and a 100-foot dock arm
that brings nature enthusiasts up close to
various types of water plants and pond
dwellers. A safety kick rail is included
around the entire dock system.
“People love the serenity that the
boardwalk docks offer at Towne Park,”
said Roger Jonas, supervisor for Towne
Park and Indian Camp Creek Park in the
St. Charles County Parks Department.
“Sometimes I’ll see someone just enjoy-
ing a book out on the water during their
lunch break. Sometimes there are school

CREATIVE SHAPES STANDARDIZED SIZES.HIGHER VISIBILITY. MORE IMPACT.
BETTER RESULTS.
Introducing Modular Ad Units.Modular ad units on the newly designed pages
of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Suburban
Journals will help make your advertisement
stand out and achieve better results.
Utilizing logical page portion — full, half,
quarter, eighth, etc. — instead of inches will
make planning and buying print advertising
easier. An added benefit: complicated rate
cards are history — pricing is now provided
for each advertising unit.
Our intention is to provide similar
standardized advertising units found in
other media like magazines, online, television
and radio. In addition, your advertisements
will easily fit other newspapers that have
adopted this strategy.
Inside you’ll find thumbnails and dimensions
of our 13 standard advertising units…and 33
ways to build these ads. Of course, we will
continue to offer creative ad shapes. A few of
the popular shapes and sizes are noted in this
packet as well.
