GMT 101 — Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (3-0-3) Thiscourseisastudyofthedevelopmentofdigitaltechniquestoportraymapping/spatialdata,hardwareandsoftwarecomponentsofdigitalmappingsystems,andreviewofbasicproceduresincreating,maintainingandutilizingdigitalmapping.GMT 103 — Introduction to Global Positioning Systems (3-0-3) ThiscourseintroducesglobalpositioningsystemsandremotesensingandtheirapplicationstoGIS.Prerequisite(s): GMT 101GMT 115 — Fundamentals of Cartography & Photogrammetry/Imaging (4-0-4) Thiscourseisastudyoftheintroductiontotheprinciplesofmapconstructionandtheuseofaerialphotographyandimagingtechnologiesinmappreparation,areviewofmapcompilationandsymbolization,projectionsandcoordinatesystems,useofmaps,photographyandimag-ingproductstopresentthematicinformation.Prerequisite(s): GMT 101GMT 240 — Geographic Information Systems Analysis and Reporting (4-0-4) Thiscourseisastudyoftechniquesofretrievingspatialanddatabaseinformationfromadigitalmappingsystem,preparinganalysesandreportsandproducingmaps,graphicsandchartsusingplottersandprinters,anduseofsoftwaredesignedspecificallyforanalysisandreporting.GMT 261 — Special Topics Related to GIS (1-0-1) Thiscourseisdesignedtoprovidespecialtopicstokeepstudentsabreastofstate-of-the-artconceptsandapplica-tionsintheGIS/GPSfield.Prerequisite(s): GMT 103, GMT 115

managers,technicalprofessionalsandothersinvolvedinbuildingandimple-mentinginformationsystemsorthoseseekingtheskillstolaunchacareerintheGISfield.

Participants will:

• LearntheconceptsandapplicationsofGIStechnology,

• Obtainhands-onexperienceinusingthelatestGISsoftware,

• Becomefamiliarwiththeissuesfacingcommunitiesandindustryandlearntodevelopsolutionswithgeospatialtechnology,

• Exploretheinterdisciplinaryele-mentsofGISincludingcartography,topology,databasedesignandspatialanalysis,
