The recently passed Health Professions Act of March 1, 2009, including amendments to March 13, 2009, now regu­lates the optometric profession in British Columbia. While it includes an expansion of permitted use of certain classes of therapeutic pharmaceutical agents, it does not permit the use of medication for the treatment of glaucoma or ocular hypertension, apart from mioties for acute angle closure.
