Copywriting:An Art of Communication

Copywriting or Copy Writing?

“Words for advertisement”

Who is a Copywriter?

NOT someone who copies and writes!

Roles & Responsibilities of a Copywriter:

● Writing from scratch

● Editing

● Proof reading

● Fact-checking

● Layout

● Text design

COPYWRITING

The art and science of strategically delivering words (whether written or spoken) that get people to take

some form of action.

How to write copies that crushes it?

1. Always be okay.

A copywriter always has to be okay, regardless of where they are physically located or what their

emotional state is.

2. What makes the difference?

Understand the audience’s perspective and desires - Meet them, and exceed them

3. It’s all about the premise!

Everything that ties your product starting from the first communication message to the CTA.

Premise is not the same as USP. But it comes down to telling a different story.

*Schiltz Beer Reference*

Techniques for Premise:

1. Be unpredictable 2. Be simple 3. Be real4. Be credible

4. Research

Research doesn’t sound sexy but it’s the foundation of any smart marketing plan, be it online or offline.

5 Ps of Copywriting:

1. Premise - Craft your story2. Promise - Not the service or offer. Show the bigger

picture, broader story3. Picture - Instil emotions 4. Proof - Back emotions up with numbers5. Push - Not a negative connotation. Get consumers

to take an action

Make copywriting meaningful!

.. See the pattern?

2. It doesn’t have to rhyme to be a poem:

I would have said it when we were finally alone together on your couch,

neither one of us with anything left to say.

Still now, I send letters into space.

Hoping that some mailman somewhere will track you down and recognize

you from the descriptions in my poems.

That he will place the stack of them in your hands and tell you“There is a girl who still writes you. She doesn’t know how not to.”

- Postcards, Sarah Kay

Tricks from Archive:

3. Give yourself small challenges on your own.

- Keep it short- Four word stories- Use 5 new words, at least, etc

Tricks from Archive:

4. Embrace the block: Read before you write.

Craft. Great. Copies.
