EatonCummingsGroupandheldattheDiamondMountainCasinolastweek.Hehighlightedsomeofthegroup’sperspectivesaboutcollegestrengths,threats,regionaltrends,andareasofimprovement.

• Otherssharedtheirperceptions,includingthattherecouldhavebeenmorecommunityparticipation,yetitwasnotedthatitwasapositivethatwehadrepresentativesfromWestwood,Alturas,andLassenHighSchools,andthoserepresentativescommittedtopartneringwithDr.Hallasstrategiesmoveforward.

• OnenextstepistoconveneaBlueRibbonCommissiontobringregionalfolkstogethertodeterminehowwemightplanforindustryandpopulationgrowthintheregion.

• AnotherstepisfortheschoolsuperintendentstogettogethertobeginplanningfortheBlueRibbonCommission.

• Athirdstepwastoexplorebettermarketingatthecollegeandfortheregion,likelytobetwoseparateconversationsparticularlyinregardstofundingthelocalandregionalefforts.

• Wewillneedtoconsidermarketingexpensesbecauseitisabudgetitem.Anotherpointmadewasthatitcanhelptohavecollegepersonnelbemore

• Inregardstomarketing,thereneedstobediscussionaboutwhetherweconsiderhiringamarketingconsultantoraregularmarketingstaffmember.Someprosandconsforeachwasdiscussed,butitseemsthattomoveforwardwe’llneedtohaveabetterideawhatwewantourproducttobe,andwe’llneedtoknowwhetherthecity,county,andotherswillwanttobeinvolvedinthelargereffort.Constituentgroupleaderswereencouragedtospeaktotheirgroupsaboutthepotentialformarketing,aregionalapproach,andaBlueRibbonCommission.Cabinetwillalsodiscuss.We’llcomebacktothisconversationatournextmeeting.

a. Committeemembersandguestsreviewedprioritizationsonthestaffing,on-going,andone-timelists.

b. ConsultationCouncilagreedtosupportpurchaseofthegunsmithingstoragepodthatwasneverpurchasedafterbeingprioritizedforpurchaseandinstallationin2014-2015.ItcanbepaidforwithsalarysavingsfromAcademicServices.JonathonwastoldtoworkwithAcademicServicestogettheprocessstarted.

c. Plansareunderwayforabudgetforumafterspringbreak.Davesuggestedalunchforum,soameansoffundingwillbeexplored.CherylwillcheckwithCodiaboutwhichdayisbestbasedonfewestclassesbeingofferedduringlunch(12:00MWF,12:30TTH)

Other(InformationOnly–NoAction)GlenYonanaskedaboutstatusoftheassistantcoachfunding.ItwasprioritizedintheEMPbytheAcademicPlanningCommittee,withconversationatmultiplemeetings,butitwasprioritizedlowerthanotherpositions.Glenexpressedthathefeelsitismoreimportantthanmanyofthepositionsprioritizedhigher.RequestsforFutureAgendaItems

• Nowthatamajorityofthebudgetprioritizationisdone,resumeweeklyreportingforacademicservices,studentservices,andadministrativeservicesbeginningnextmeetingwithstudentservices.IncludeanASBreportintherotationnowthatastudentisattendingmoreconsistently.
