La Boheme, located at 316
W. Crawford Ave. features
treasures from the Czech
Republic. The store carries
an exquisite array of mer-
chandise that ranges in price
from as little as jewelry for
$9.00 to ornate chandeliers
that reach into the thou-
sands of dollars.
The store is owned by John
and Lucy King. Lucy grew
up here and her mother still
lives in the area, which
played a part in the Kings’
decision to move their busi-
ness here from Mount Leba-
non.
The couple looked at various
properties with the thought
of including a bed and
breakfast in their plans.
They were looking for a
building with great visibility
and high traffic for the store
that was close to the bike
trail for the bed and break-
fast. They purchased a prop-
erty on West Crawford Ave.
and are very pleased with
their decision.
"We believe in this area and
its potential for growth. We
were drawn here because of
the bike trail and redevelop-
ment plans for Connells-
ville," King said.
The traditional and contem-
porary glass and crystal
featured at La Boheme are
beautiful beyond descrip-
tion. There is jewelry for
proms, weddings and gift
giving. There are handmade
toys, small, one-of-a-kind
glass animals, vases, chess
sets, Roccoco milk glass
and so much more! The
colors are splendid!
The handmade Christmas
ornaments are outstanding,
each one unique and beauti-
ful.
La Boheme's regular hours
are Tuesday - Friday 10
a.m.
to 6:00 p.m., closed Sunday
and Monday. For further
information, visit
www.crystal-bohemian.com
or call 724-628-4808 or 877

Sustainable
Design
Workshop The Redevelopment Authority
of the City of Connellsville is
pleased to announce that
grant funding has been re-
ceived from the Claude
Worthington Benedum Foun-
dation and PA Department of
Community and Economic
Development to conduct a
Sustainable Design Workshop
on April 11, 12 and 13.
The focus of the workshop is
to provide building owners in
the eastern side of Downtown
Connellsville an opportunity to
have their buildings evaluated
by architectural and engineer-
ing professionals. Environ-
mental Planning and Design
has been hired to conduct the
workshop. Their team con-
sists of McCollom Develop-
ment Strategies, Richard
Hoch (Asst. Professor at IUP),
John Zanetta, and Glenn
Wolfe.
It is an important part of com-
munity and economic devel-
opment to start with pre-
development. This exercise
will serve this capacity. In
addition to the buildings, the
consultants will have land-
scape architects present
plans for Cameron Court as
well as other open spaces.
As part of the workshop stu-
dents from IUP will be in-
volved in the planning pro-
cess. Michael Edwards has
also been working with stu-
dents in a technical writing
class at Penn State Eberly
Campus to examine the feasi-
bility of projects including the
showing of movies at East
Park, a fly fishing business,
and various other hospitality
related businesses.
If you own a building in this area
of town or are interested in partici-
pating please contact Michael Ed-
wards at 724 626 1645. The work-
shop will be held at the Redevelop-
ment Authority offices located at
124 West Crawford Avenue from 9
am to 5 pm each day.
The final presentation will be part
of the 3rd Annual Symposium on
Friday, May 25th at 2:00 at Yough
River Park.

James Earl Jones narrates this US version of the 96-minute docu-mentary film which follows families of arctic polar bears, African elephants, and humpback whales for an entire year. The film tracks the animals’ migrations across the globe and through some of the harshest terrains and climates on earth, pointing out in a factual and remarkably non-political way the negative effects of global warming and habitat destruction on these animals and the planet as a whole.
