Would you like to help someone
with Grocery Shopping?
The Shopper Program provides older adults in
Broome County with non-emergency, on-going
weekly or bi-weekly grocery shopping.
Services Provided by Volunteers:
Arrive at the client’s home, review their gro-
cery order form, and collect their money, check or food
stamps.
When the shopping is completed, return groceries, change
and a receipt to the client.
Shoppers also assist with putting groceries away if needed.
If you would like to be a volunteer shopper for one of the
many seniors in need of this service, please contact:
Paige Patterson
Broome County Council of Churches
607-724-9130 ext. 318 or
ppatterson@broomecouncil.net
The Shopper Program is funded by the New York State and
Broome County Office for Aging through the Older Americans Act.
Re-entry - The Jail Ministry program is attempting to help
curb the cycle of incarceration. One area which is often
overlooked is that of spiritual care and friendship.
We are reaching out to congregation members who are
open to mentoring former jail inmates who would like to
attend your church services. With a new network of support,
re-entrants may find a new life in fellowship and in a
relationship with the Lord. All that is asked is that you be a
friend; social work needs may be referred back to our office.
Christmas - We are also in need of VBS, camps, or church
groups that would like to decorate white paper
bags for the inmate Christmas packages.
Contact: Rev. Cris H. Mogenson

Jail Re-entry & Christmas Program
Hospital Ministry - We are there when you need us.
Congregants:
A reminder that if you come to Wilson or Binghamton Gen-
eral, please tell the folks who admit you to put your church
name down for the religious census. Also try and contact
your church so they know you are at the hospital.
Most days fewer than 50% of those who
are admitted mention a spiritual prefer-
ence and only 10 to 16% mention a spe-
cific church. Our numbers are typical
around the state.
I am looking for a person or two that
would like to pray and visit with people at the hospitals.
Most volunteers find it very rewarding but it does take a
special calling to come in faithfully week after week.
Please call Chaplain John at 763-6003 if you would like to
volunteer your time.
Thank You! Rev. John Koopman, Hospital Chaplain
