What is Genius Hour?

• Independent research project where you will spend one day a week exploring something you are passionate about

Why are we doing Genius Hour?

• Allows me to see your passion!

• Allows you to enjoy a project in school and to have control / freedom

• Teaches research skills• Requires you to problem

Why Edmodo?• Quicker feedback– Used to turn in driving question and

reflection questions.• No lost papers• Allows you to stick to a timeline– Assignments must be turned in on

time!– Getting behind causes stress and

rushed projects/research

• No. – School Appropriate–Research based!–Completed using class time (you can work

at home but you must be productive during class)–Must be science or future career based

• Needs a work cited page– AT LEAST 3 SOURCES– Keep track of your sources– You can use a work cited generator

website to help you

Personal Devices• Phones, ipods, ipads, kindles, etc• Can be used in class for research and note taking

purposes• YOU SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING GAMES OR ON
