Learning outcomesDesign Driven Innovation 1

• You learn how to systematically trace, analyze and interpret trends. With this knowledge you will be ableto adopt a trend for your own innovation process.

• You learn how to build and maintain a network of interpreters to collect a heterogeneity of viewpoints foryour own innovation in the three phases: Listening, Interpreting and Adressing.

• You bring an original idea from fuzzy concept to prototype design.

• You demonstrate practical understanding of key elements of Innovation Theory and Design Thinking.

• You learn to approach an innovation challenge from a human-centered perspective by empathizing with a broad group of stakeholders and interpreters to understand their (latent) needs through various design methods.

• You will be able to define and re-define innovation challenges by the reframing technique and asking the right questions.

• You will be able to develop many creative ideas through structured brainstorming sessions.

• You will be able to develop rapid prototypes to bring your ideas into reality as quickly as possible, and obtain feedback.

Make it happen – 7 ECTS

1. Final Concept.2. Description and visuals of your high fidelity prototype.3. Business model for your innovation.4. Product video of 90 seconds with a clear call to action.5. Visualisation and explanation of your design process.6. Concept for the final exposition and toolset of used design

methods (use book 101 Design Methods).7. Visualisation and Rationale Design process.8. Reflection and classroom participation.

Grading system

Grading is from 1 to 10, 1 ECTS = 28 hours

• In this first week of the Designful Innovationprogramme you will learn the basics of Design Thinking. The complete programme will beexplained and you will be invited to redesignthe classroom according to some of the design principles of the d.School Stanford (MakeSpace).
